Everything at Salsa Guy Cafe is always so fresh. It’s a great addition to the neighborhood. My favorite is the alfalfa experience with a side of kettle chips, which can be cooked in beef tallow or vegetable oil depending on your liking. You can call ahead to order, or use an online ordering platform. I would recommend using their personal app for the best value.

Love this place! Would eat here everyday if I could. The pastrami sandwich is out of this world. Love the may sandwich to the cork and fork and can’t go wrong with the classic alfalfa. I also always have to pick up some salsa, dressings, and bbq sauce on my way out. The blueberry bourbon BBQ sauce with a Costco rotisserie chicken is my go to easy weeknight meal. Staff are very attentive and friendly!

Having never before eaten here thought I would stop by. I see by the banner on building out front this restaurant is one of ten burger joints in the running for Best burger in Iowa 2026. In my opinion this place didn’t disappoint. It was pleasantly served and was very slowly and thoroughly enjoyed. The burger in question was The Conquistador burger. Angus beef with a large variety of toppings. Pepper jack cheese, bacon, sweet BBQ sauce, and fresh pickles. All served on a Brioche bun. Piled high. It arrived with a steak knife so you can easily slice it. Onion rings also are included as a topping. My choice of beverage and happily chose a Pepsi. It took me awhile to eat this. A beautiful melody of flavor and deliciousness. This burger has it all. This restaurant prides itself on using only the freshest ingredients available. That also means this place isn’t cheap. But it was well worth it. They offer a nice variety of menu items. One of which is their homemade cinnamon rolls. I chose to dine inside at their Mt Vernon road location. Found out they also have a bigger location off Blairsferry road now too. Place I ate only has a few parking spots in the back. Nice atmosphere. Staff willing and able to help you navigate their extensive delicious menu.

First time visiting the other night and it was absolutely AMAZING food. The steak burrito smothered and the chicken sandwich were both amazing. The staff was extremely friendly as well. Very small establishment on Mt Vernon Rd, but whether you eat in or take it to-go, it will 100% be worth it!

Conquistador Chili = Excellent!! This was some of the best and most unique tasting Chili ever. I couldn’t get enough of it! Can’t wait to have it again. It’s CRAZY good!
Conquistador Burger = Excellent!! Again, can’t wait to have it again. I had requested that it be “well done” and he said they’d give it an extra minute for me. Whatever they did was perfect! I don’t enjoy pink burgers so I appreciated it so much. Contrary to popular belief, it did not dry it out. My burger was so juicy & flavorful.
Conquistador Chicken = Excellent!! So very good! Chicken was cooked properly so I didn’t need to be concerned about raw chicken in the middle. I will get all of these again!
Also got the Homemade Potato Chips. What a treat!! Must get! Next time I’ll get more bags Also bought his Homemade Salsa from the cooler and a bag of their Tortilla Chips. We’ll be getting more salsa next time!

My husband ordered the Pastrami sandwich of the month he was very pleased. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich it was extremely favorable. Needless to say we both enjoyed the food and the quiet family feel to the counter style restaurant. Sometimes you must trust the processes there were things without my husband’s guidance I probably would have asked to have taken off the sandwich so glad I left it intact. Great place for a tasty meal.

A few others and myself ordered the Alfalfa sandwich, Conquistador burger, and the prime beef brisket sandwich. I also tried the strawberry lemonade. Everything was delicious and had great flavor. We loved the special touch of the logo imprinted on the buns. Their food and drinks are homemade and high quality. Staff were friendly and helpful. I love that they use beef tallow to make their fresh chips. We will be back soon to order more! Highly recommend!

I had heard about this place on a FB group with good reviews. So I figured I would check it out. I drove there as they do not take online or phone orders. I ordered the conquistador burger with a side of homemade fried chips. Oh, everything is alacarte. I also got some of their homemade salsa and chips. the burger is big, no, ginormous, huge, crazy big. But it was fantastic. Very filling, super yummy. Highly recommend the burger. The fried chips were very good so I recommend them as well. The chips are excellent. The tequila lime salsa was good but does have some pretty good spice to it. The place is pretty small but decent. The cashier was nice, great up seller. It seemed pretty chaotic when I 1st went in and everyone seemed to be outta joint but the food came out pretty quick, was well cooked and worth the trip. Definitely check it out if you haven’t already. They have a smaller menu but seem to be well thought out. Try it. I stopped her on a Tuesday about 415 and ordered their burger of the month, the 4B burger. It was super yummy with great taste, lots of different flavors harmoniously playing upon each other with great texture. The chips were still very good. Highly recommend this place as it is excellent food with seemingly fresh ingredients. The food was well prepared and came relatively quick.

This place had quite a few great reviews on local facebook pages so was excited to try the famous alfalfa experience cold sandwich. They sure did pile on the dill spread! It was tasty, maybe a little extra salty for my liking. I also had the fresh potato chips which were good as well – best piping hot. My husband had the prime brisket burrito- smothered. It was decent. I thought the meat was too salty (maybe I’m having an off day with salt?) and refried beans overpowered it a little and no real spice to it so a grilled jalapeño might be an option for them sometime (also not sure what all their options were to add some spices). Their space is on the smaller size but very nice inside and since they are moving to a larger space soon I’m sure it will be good for them to add more seating for their customers. The service was excellent as the staff were super friendly and engaging. The owner is nice and is a good conversationalist.

As a frequent out of town visitor this is one of my go to spots each time…sometimes twice! The food is amazing on its own: I love the alfalfa sandwich. BUT it is the staff, hello Justin that makes this place come alive. The awareness and the service is unmatched to be honest. And then there is the eye candy that is on the back line , hello Cedrix Hope I got that spelling right. There is nothing not to love about this place! Go visit them today and everyday!
