Came here to meet some friends for lunch and was looking forward to trying their food. Thai food has always been one of our favorites, recently more because they typically have GF options.
They had a spacious dining room with a handful of tables but also a lot of empty space so it didn’t feel very cohesive. We had a group of 6 and pushed some tables together. My husband who has celiac normally orders a curry or even pad Thai but unfortunately when we went to order and told the server of his allergy, the chef came out and said he was sorry but he didn’t have anything that didn’t have soy.
That was a little shocking because we’ve never been able to find anything that he couldn’t eat, there was always at least one dish.
Instead of leaving, the rest of us ordered and he sat and drank his coffee while we ate. I was utterly disappointed to say the least. However, I will admit that the food we did get was very tasty. Full of flavor, portions were good and nice spice. Our server gave good service so I did not want this to reflect a bad experience at all. I would suggest though being a Thai restaurant you should consider creating some dishes without soy or Gluten so that people with celiac can eat here. I know this is possible because we’ve never had an issue and also I’ve made Thai food without soy before. We still had a good time and enjoyed the food.

We ordered three meals and a sushi roll. The sushi roll was for my daughter, that was her meal.

We got an appetizer drink drinks. All of it was very slow.

They came out and asked my daughter questions about her sushi order specifically what she wanted, and we waited for nearly an hour with no food.

And check out the photo – who serves Thai tea ($5) in a premade can???? I’ve been to dozens of Thai cuisine restaurants and NEVER seen that.

They delivered our three hot meals and regrettably informed my daughter that all of a sudden they have no sushi today.

So we got up and left. A bit of a joke.

I recently ordered from them, and wow, their food blew me away! Every dish was packed with flavor, making it clear that they know how to do it right. I had their Pork Fried Rice, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The meat was tender, and the sauce had just the right balance of spice and richness.

I also tried their Drunken Chicken with Shrimp add-on, which was equally impressive. The ingredients tasted fresh, and every bite had a burst of flavor that kept me coming back for more. Even though I had it delivered, the food arrived hot, fresh, and just as delicious as if I were dining in.

Overall, they really delivered (pun intended) with mouth-watering, flavorful food. Highly recommend!

It’s now mainly Japanese food.
The salty Pad Thai dish was so gooey & saucey and too sweet. Thin slices of beef. $16. Business sign outside and Google says Sally’s Thai & Lao but once inside, menus said Akashi Japanese. Needs a makeover. The cook has a heavy hand with salt.

Let me just say, this place is so amazing! Very cute and cozy dining experience! Ingredients are so fresh and all the dishes I’ve tried are amazing! My absolute favorite is the Thai Fried Garlic Pork! I’ve ordered this dish time and time again! It’s a little bit crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside! The flavor is on point! Thai Papaya salad is also delicious! You can taste that tamarind tangy flavor! Everything on their menu is delicious and I plan on trying the rest!

I did not visit this establishment until last night by I’ve heard that it was different under the prior owners. I have to say that the portions were smaller than other Asian food restaurants in the area, (the 4 star rating).

I ordered the garlic pork and the Pad Thai chicken. Both were very good, with the Pork having a very nice sauce flavor. I ordered the Pad Thai “medium”, and it was spicy, but could’ve gone a little higher. It was still very good.

The young lady at the counter was extremely polite, and answered my questions in detail. I will recommend this to my buddies and will definitely visit this restaurant again!

[EDIT: I lowered my review from 3 stars to 2 stars, because it’s kind of awful to be riding on reviews from a different restaurant.]

So, this place is no longer Sally’s. I went in there after hearing about it for a long time, only to be given menus for Akami Sushi. I now understand after reading the reviews that it’s under new management.

I got Japanese food, specifically the Spicy Samurai Bowl. It was really, really good. But it really threw me off going inside and seeing all kinds of Japanese-inspired decor with occasional mentions of Sally’s on the wall. They also gave us canned Thai tea that I can buy at Nam Dae Mun or H-Mart for cheaper, which was disappointing.

The menu still has standard Thai entrees, but nothing Lao. And I’d be inclined to doubt that the Thai food is as good as it used to be.

Disappointed that I missed out on the real Sally’s, but it was a genuinely good Japanese meal.

I don’t know where I have been to have missed this gem! The Chicken Pad Thai was phenomenal. It was not overly sweet and had just enough tang. The Basil dried rice was loaded with chicken. The flavor of the basil was not overpowering and it has a sort of smoky flavor. Lastly the Firecracker Shrimp rolls were so good I wanted to order 4 more just for myself! Overall, Chef’s kiss

Stopped in as a detour going home to Charlotte, from Atlanta. As natives, we really enjoyed the available options! So we dug right in and ordered a spread! Most of the food we ordered, we really enjoyed. The only thing my wife didn’t prefer was the drunken noodles as it was more like pad thai. Customer service was tentative and food was served in a very timely manner (group of 8 – only one other smaller party). Our party said this place was definitely a hit and worth the detour! Ambiance was nice, great setting. I enjoyed being able to dine in familiarity with food and music / vibes. Makes me jealous of the more hmong populated states like California and Minnesota! But nonetheless, we are absolutely spreading the word about your restaurant and it will spread like wild fire! (Our fat families and friends love to eat!) Thanks again for the hospitality! Wishing many blessings to yal!
