Service was friendly and impeccable. Authentic Indian food in the heart of Bristol .Mango lassi was thick and smooth, amazing chicken curries, lamb biryani, garlic naan (bread), onion bhaji and chicken wings.

Absolutely blown away by our experience at Salkaara Street. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm, and the atmosphere immediately set the tone for what turned out to be an incredible meal. The interior is absolutely brilliant — the walls are decorated with traditional Indian film posters, which gives the place so much charm and character. It’s vibrant, fun, and full of personality, just like the food.

Let’s start with the service. Viven, our server, was outstanding. An absolute gem of a guy with a cracking mustache to match. He was attentive without being overbearing, checking in on us throughout the evening to make sure everything was spot on. It’s clear he takes pride in what he does, and that made our experience all the more enjoyable. Friendly, professional, and just a genuinely nice bloke.

Now, onto the food — every single dish we had was exceptional. I started off with a mango lassi, and it was exactly what you’d hope for: cold, creamy, and incredibly refreshing. It was the perfect way to kick things off.

The poppadoms arrived next with a trio of chutneys. I was especially taken with the mango and red sauce — sweet, tangy, and bursting with flavor. The mint sauce was just as good, cool and herby with a perfect balance to the spice. Honestly, I could’ve just kept eating those all evening.

The Agni wings were a real highlight. Packed with flavor and heat, they had just the right amount of kick to get your tastebuds going. They were so good I found myself chewing on the bones at one point, not wanting to miss a single bit of that fiery, rich marinade.

Next up, I had a lamb naan which paired beautifully with the chicken tikka I ordered. The naan was soft with a slightly crisp edge and filled with that deliciously spiced lamb. It went down an absolute treat.

The chicken tikka itself was perfectly cooked — tender, juicy, and infused with that signature smoky tandoori flavor. Served with a portion of pulao rice that was fluffy, fragrant, and just the right texture, the whole dish came together beautifully. The sauce that accompanied it was rich and savory, tying everything together into a truly satisfying main course.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. The food was delicious, the portions generous, the ambiance vibrant, and the service absolutely top tier. A special shout out once again to Viven — if he’s not running the place, he should be. The man knows how to look after his guests and clearly takes pride in making people feel welcome and well-fed.

Great food, great service, great price. Salkaara Street has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorites. I’ll absolutely be back.

Im what you might describe as a fusy eating when it comes to Indian food. I’ve travelled India for a year. I can tell you the 3 best places I ate in India. My standards are high. English Indian restaurants are a poor representation of Indian food. But there are a few places that are so good. Salkaara does great thalis. And fantastic dosa. Its proper stuff. Obviously it’s not quite as good as India because health and safety wont let them have a cow standing in the restaurant and random dogs sitting under the table. But apart from that I highly recommend it.

Me and my friends recently visited ‘Salkara Street’ Indian restaurant and had a fantastic experience. The prices are very affordable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere from the moment we walked in.
The food was excellent, flavorful, fresh and beautifully presented. Whether you are looking for a casual dinner or a place to enjoy a meal with friends and family, this restaurant is a great choice.

Lovely food and flavour. Not much of a wait for food. Good waiters. Not very busy. Clean toilets. Cutlery, napkins and menu on the tables. Struggled a little to take order…lentil donuts were lovely, asked for more but bought us the pancakes :0 and quite small portions for the price.

Had the chilli chicken wings to start and they were UNREAL! Then a chicken thali which was so fun. All freshly cooked and delicious. Staff were also very nice and explained all dishes. Non greasy like a lot of Indian restaurants and can’t wait to go back and try more.

Absolutely Delightful Experience!

Had an incredible meal at Salakara Hotel! The Fish Tawa Fry was nothing short of amazing—perfectly spiced, crisp on the outside, and juicy on the inside. It was clearly made with fresh ingredients. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were attentive and courteous throughout.
Will definitely be coming back..

The hospitality from femi was really great. She seemed like a kind and lovely person. 11/10 experience will come again. I would make it 6 star if I could. Must be promoted to manager and make shareholder.

Visited this restaurant with our son who is studying in Bristol. Happened to be walking by and liked the look of the place plus the street food options. Turned out to be an excellent choice. All the dishes we ordered were beautifully present and full of flavour – just the right amount of spice to not be overwhelming. Particularly enjoyed the onion bhaji starter which was fluffy and soft-centred as opposed to the hard fried versions you can usually get. Courteous, attentive staff and made reasonable prices too.

We tried this restaurant on our casual evening stroll. Ambience was great, staff very friendly. Food tasted good as well.. but portion size very questionable. We ordered chhole bhature but ran out of chhole.
We ordered masala dosa but ran out if sambar and chutney and staff took their own sweet time to refill it. This was, when there were only 3-4 other customers dining at the moment.
Pani for gol gappe was served in the tiniest pot ever, couldn’t even fill 5 gol gappas with it.
Prices are reasonable and i would love to go back but i won’t because of the portion size.
