Sale & Pepe is hands down one of my top recommended spots in Holmdel, NJ. The food is absolutely superb—true homemade Italian cooking with outstanding flavor in every bite. You can taste the care, quality, and tradition that goes into each dish.
The pizza completely blew me away. A true classic with incredible crust, perfect texture, and deep, balanced flavor—exactly what great pizza should be.

Just had an incredible meal at this restaurant. Incredible quality food. From the dipping sauce for the bread featuring garlic and capers, to the calamari and shrimp special that I hope sticks around to the Melanzane Alla Giuseppe with top tier vodka sauce and layers of eggplant, spinach, mozzarella, prosciutto, basil and tomato served with a generous amount of rigatoni. Service was excellent, finally an Italian restaurant playing Italian music, and even the side salad had flavorful red peppers and olives. Couldn’t have been happier and I will definitely be back.

Food was absolutely delicious! The Veal Parm Milanese was fried hot, and the fresh mozzarella and homemade focaccia were excellent! The owners welcomed me like family. Appreciated the conversation as much as the food. Great local, family owned business, already started recommending to family and friends. Look forward to many more meals ahead!

The staff and Sale e Pepe take food allergies and restrictions very seriously. Will work with you so that you can order almost anything you want allergy free. My husband and I had a really great meal— Chicken Marsala and veal Milanese were delicious. Staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

A nice dine in area and a take out menu if you choose a quick pizzeria experience. My partner and I had a bowl of soup, some phenomenal bread, but had to take our entrees to go. Hours later, it was still so delicious! Will stop by again!

First time customer and the penne vodka was amazing , the pasta was flavorful along with the sauce , the owners were very friendly and the atmosphere was very good , I would definitely come back again. Would highly recommend!

We came here with friends and the food was amazing, tasty and plenty of food. Lance was our server, he did a great job and he was very personal. He make us feel like we were having dinner at mom’s house. We had the pleasure to meet the owner and he was just as welcoming as Lance. This must be their model. Make everyone feel at home. Definitely my new go to place.

Our first time but not our last! My son and I were just going to grab 1 quick slice of pizza to go, but we walked out with 6 different items! When we walked in, the place smelled great. The pizza counter had a nice assortment of slices as well as some interesting creations. We tried a regular slice, Mac and cheese slice, focaccia roll, sausage and pepper boat, a Greek salad and a meatball strombolli. Everything was delicious! The dough of the pizza was perfect. The focaccia roll was absolutely delicious. The place was clean, it was cute and the owner was friendly. Quick service and good prices. We will definitely go back and try more items from the menu!

Fries were fresh. Soups were really good. And so were the cheesesteaks. I ordered a California grilled chicken sandwich under HOT SANDWICHES and tell me why the sandwich was completely cold including the bread. Total disappointment! Server took the sandwich back to put it in the oven but just the bread came back hot.
