The Salathip restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Shangri-La Hotel, offers a superb Thai dining experience.
At certain times, traditional Thai performances are held, providing a rich array of entertainment. It is wonderful to be able to taste a wide variety of Thai dishes in one place, and the interior and atmosphere of the restaurant perfectly capture the sense of traditional Thailand.
While the prices at Salathip are on the higher side, you certainly experience a corresponding level of excellent food quality and exceptional service. I highly recommend it if you wish to taste sophisticated, authentic Thai cuisine.
The only drawback is that it would be beneficial if they could offer more comprehensive explanations of the dishes and suggest an overall course menu for those who are unfamiliar with Thai food. This lack of guidance was a slight disappointment.

What an amazing place to have dinner on Christmas Eve! We had a set menu that was amazing and the dancers, Santa Clause, carolers, and ultimately fireworks made the night special.

We’re Filipinos and we went here to try dining local food by Chao Phraya river. Everything was perfect. We picked the outdoor seating table and the view exceeded expectations.
The waiters and waitresses were acceptably fluent in English and were very quick to accommodate our questions and requests. The food was not bland and the flavors were distinctly thai. There were also dancers who performed a traditional dance while we were dining.
Although the prices are hefty, this dinner experience is a definite must-try for at least once.

Awesome location for traditional Thai cuisine in a lovely setting along the river. Restaurant is one of 7 inside the Shangri-la but this is one of two with outdoor seating next to river. Food and service where both of high quality and they also have traditional kings court performance throughout dinner in full costumes. Location is easily accessible by boat or taxi. Reservations are highly recommended as venue if limited in capacity.

Had dinner with my partner, and the staff here (Khun Aom) was super attentive and really helpful. We had a blast and the food was amazing! I suggested we try this unique Thai dish, Mieng Pla Tub Tim, for dessert, and Tom Ka Kai for the main course. It was a great choice!

Few menu option, not much food to choose. Although food may look photogenic, but it is pricy and taste is just average or below average. Not worth it. Unfortunately, I experience a woman staff who gave us very poor service, she didn’t smile, kept us waiting, not serve us what we requested and even crossed. The atmosphere is perfect, riverside, there were also some Thai dance shows, considered nice for tourists.
