I went to Salaama for the first time yesterday and ordered takeout. The service was fast and friendly. The food was delicious! I ordered the dinner for 2 and got rice with beef stew and chicken. The seasonings were wonderful! The meal also came with a banana.

The chicken “steak” (filets) and rice was outstanding. They have three different sizes which is nice. Plenty of food in our order!

Wow, so delicious. The flavor are amazing. Will definitely come here often. Customer service is outstanding, they Greeted me at the door and had a great conversation while my food was being prepared. I got the rice (so delicious) with lamb meat (so yummy and moist) a salad, a banana and a water all for $14, can’t beat that. So worth it. I 100% recommend this place.

There food was delicious. The soup was very hot and ready right away. It had nice flavor with some veggies and a hint of lemon flavor. The rice was delicious, it was also full of flavor. I choose the proteins of goat and fish for my rice which complimented it very well. The fish was fried and mixed with the rice was really good. The goat was very meaty and tasty. They don’t have a menu so depending on the time of day I think the food varies. They have three sizes and the costs are, $10, $13, and $26. In the picture below I got the $13 one and I had to bring home leftovers as I couldn’t finish it. The restaurant was filled with nice people and saying hello. I am not sure if I had just timed it right as it was after prayer. Or if that’s just how friendly the people that frequent there are. Either way it was a pleasant surprise and I highly recommend trying this place if you want some good Somali food.

I didn’t get to take a photo but I ate the goat with rice and salad. It was soo good. The purple drink was nice too. It was a clean environment with a lot of men as the servers and diners. I’d come back.

We had lunch at Salaama yesterday and was thoroughly impressed with the food and friendly, attentive service. Ahmed did a great job of explaining what dishes were available to order and how they should traditionally be eaten. Our starter was the soup of the day. It was a heavily aromatic, spiced soup. Carrot, celery, garlic, cilantro, lime and a special blend of restaurant seasonings created a perfect blend of flavors in this vegetable soup! It was served with a whole banana. Plates of seasoned rice with a choice of protein (Chicken or goat, sautéed with onions and peppers) soon followed. Ahmed made the suggestion to slice the banana into the rice and top it with hot sauce – and we were glad as it turned out to be a delicious way to eat a banana! We were invited to come back again anytime to enjoy the soup at no cost. This little restaurant makes soup every day and feeds it to those who need it as an act of charity toward the community. It is $1 for the container if it is taken to go. These acts of kindness, along with the warm welcome and big plates of delicious food are reasons we will soon be back to show our support!

Great food for good prices! All of the staff were super friendly too. My wife got the chicken steak rice dish and I got the goat rice dish, and we were both very pleased with the meat, rice, and bananas.

I am posting for the cafe right beside the restaurant. They were very freindly and welcoming; they even taught me some Somalian. Tea was great, exactly what I wanted. The cafe is filled with people watching soccer, I was looking for a place to study, though. Overall, it was a great experience.
