As a new resident in midtown, I was elated to discover this spectacular rooftop venue. The DJ and dancing vibe was alluring, and the viewscapes are vast. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, to the point of motivating my recurring patronage out of the gate. Anna Kudla was so generously informative about the property, that I thought she was in a management role. Joklin exuded amiable and fun energy through his superstar service, and Natalie’s personality beamed behind the bar. I am excited to explore the restaurant and menu options soon under the crescent moon!

This restaurant was nice. It’s at the top of the Aloft and Element hotels in Midtown. There were private events going on the night we went, and I feel like employees focus more on the big parties. We weren’t disappointed seated and forgotten about. The host came and asked us if a server ever came to talk to us. When a server did come out, my husband ordered an old fashioned and just got water because we had been traveling and was super dehydrated. My husband got the mushroom risotto, and I got the Chimichurri Chicken. He said his drink was good, and his risotto was salty. My food was very good, no complaints here. I think I wanted to try more things on the lunch menu though. So if I went back it would be for breakfast or lunch… when other people haven’t rented out a part of the restaurant .

This place was wonderful!
Highlight ask for Alisha WONDERFUL SERVER 100/10) humble, respectful, checked on us a timely manner and very sweet.

Hope this detailed review can help you!

First let’s go with the place and location; The place is warm, modern and specious. You can choose to be at the bar (inside or outside) or table inside or at the terrace! (I find this to be more of a terrace than a rooftop as view is limited and is not really high)BUT do not get me wrong the view is nice. Seats and table are not the most comfy IN THE TERRACE but not bad. Also the place is located near stores/markets, walk ways with other amenities/ small park and hotels.

The food we ordered as starter was the ropa vieja tostones shooters which were delicious (tostones with shredded season beef and guacamole (9/10) more guac and too much onion and peppers.

Entrees my partner order the Salmon with white sauce and herbs (9/10) The salmon was just a little bit dry (and i agree but nothing that a lemon can’t fix).
I ordered the chimichurri roasted chicken and it came with potatoes and carrots (Taste 10/10) (7/10 in portion) It was delicious the chimichurri gave it that wonderful taste infuse with the carrots and the chimichurri just wow but the chicken was super super small (it looked like a teenage chicken). haha
Drinks we order espresso martini (strong and good) – overpriced for portion
Mango number .5 It missed a bit of more tropical flavor but still very good- extremely overpriced for the amount and quality.

Also they may change the menu often as it does not consist with other reviews items.

Overall: 8.5/10
Food /Food presentation 9/10
Drinks 7.5/10
Service 10/10
Enviorment/place/location (9/10)

We came here for their Saturday brunch while on a batch trip and had the best time! Our server Aliyah did a fantastic job, she was so sweet and have great knowledge of the dishes for when we had questions, she even decorated our table a bit to make it more special l. Paul the manager was a wonderful person as well, as the hostess was putting out table together he came up to check on us and make sure we were taken care of. The food was amazing, the people were so friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. Definitely would come back again! Loved it

I was truly impressed by the warmth and flexibility of the staff. The restaurant and bar offer a beautiful boho-chic, on-trend atmosphere that feels both stylish and inviting. As a vendor who regularly coordinates setups, I’ve struggled to find venues in Tampa that are genuinely accommodating—but Sal Y Mar exceeded every expectation. From the aesthetic to the professionalism and supportive team, it’s everything I’ve been looking for and will absolutely be my go-to moving forward.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Incredible Brunch Experience at Sal Y Mar!

I cannot express how thankful I am for our amazing experience at Sal Y Mar. We visited for brunch, and I really wanted to try the shrimp and grits — but I was told they’re only served on weekends. To my surprise, the chef who created the menu personally came to our table and explained that she could make it for me if we didn’t mind waiting about 20 minutes.

We didn’t mind at all — the atmosphere was beautiful, the drinks were delicious, and I was enjoying quality time with my mom and grandmother. The wait went by quickly, and when the food arrived, it was absolutely worth it — perfectly cooked and full of flavor!

Our server, Aliyah, was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and the reason we got to meet Chef Samell in the first place. Meeting the chef was such a unique and special experience, and it made our brunch even more memorable.

Everything from the service to the food and ambiance was top-notch. Thank you, Aliyah and Chef Samell, for your kindness and hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed; the food, drinks, and overall atmosphere were all fantastic.

We also had the opportunity to speak with Annette after dinner, and we shared how much we enjoyed everything. The DJ truly made the night; the energy was perfect, the music was on point, and honestly, I would come back just for him and the Pornstar Martini!

It was our first night out, and were so glad we chose Sal y Mar. Thank you for the hospitality and for creating such a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back and will be recommending the restaurant to others.

I had a fantastic time at Sal Y Mar during Happy Hour! The atmosphere was vibrant, and the service was top-notch. Catherine was absolutely wonderful — warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive. She made us feel right at home and ensured our experience was perfect from start to finish.

The drinks were not only tasty but also came out quickly, which is always appreciated. I highly recommend stopping by and asking for Catherine, she truly elevated our visit. Will definitely be back!

Been here so many times for so many different occasions, from low key after work drinks to the recent halloween party. I come for the location, it’s extremely convenient & decent rooftop considering it’s on Dale Mabry. The experience is always the same: just ok food & really slow, apathetic bar service. No sense of leadership or enthusiasm. Sometimes we’ll luck out & get good service at the bar, but for the most part, there is not a feeling of the importance of hospitality. Music is hit or miss. Signature cocktails are really good at least. Will probably keep coming back for free parking, convenient location, nice views at sundown, & tasty drinks, keeping in mind expectations are low.

Nice rooftop bar and restaurant nestled inside the a hotel. The entryway is pretty open and well lit although it’s a little confusing to find the entrance after you find parking. ( pro tip: go inside the elevator entrance then hop on the elevators but make sure they service Sal Y Mar. )
When we arrived (a party of 15+) we were able to find a few tables near the heat lamps with the balcony view of tampa bay.
The vibe was very laid back and on point thanks to the DJ who had a nice array of music covering quite a few genres.
Over near the pool there is a great view of the skyline for photograph ops or just enjoying one of the great cocktails they served.
The staff was on their game and great with recommendations as well as with the classics.
I highly recommend a visit.
My only draw back is that it’s a rooftop venue so the dj ended at 11pm then it was just ambient music great for conversations
