I’ve driven by the plaza where Sakura is located countless times, but only recently decided to stop in—and I’m glad I did! I’ve dined in once and ordered takeout a few times since my initial visit.

The vegetables are surprisingly flavorful and pair perfectly with simple steamed rice. The teriyaki beef is delicious, hearty, and really hits the spot, and I also loved the yakisoba. The restaurant itself has a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere, and the dine-in service was quick and efficient.

Takeout was just as tasty, though there is a short wait for someone to come to the counter so I could pay. On the only occasion where I ordered the soup for take out leaked a bit in the bag, but it didn’t take away from how good everything tasted.

Overall, Sakura is a great spot with consistently delicious food—I’ll definitely be coming back!

Iv been coming here for years, lunch, dinner celebrations, you name it. After my experience 2/7/26, I will not be returning and will make sure all the people I know who go here know how things are being ran now. My group of 6 arrived at 4:40 for my sisters annually birthday dinner here, we learned our favorite server that has been here for years no longer works there and noticed we didn’t recognize anyone that was working. We got seated at 5 and ordered at 5:15, my kids were never offered a coloring menu like usual nor did they ask if I needed high chairs( my kids are younger), we ordered our usual mushroom appetizer, and 4 bento boxes. We got the appetizer which comes with 8 large mushrooms, except this time it was 4 mushrooms CUT IN HALF to equal 8? We also didn’t receive any plates but were handed a few forks to share and eat off the plate? We didn’t receive our food until 6pm, so 45 minutes after we ordered, and in the wait time we did not see our waitress one time nor did anyone come clear our table which had 6 salad bowls, 6 soup bowls, the appetizer plate and empty cups. The people working were all running around seeming like they had no idea what was going on, we tried to flag people down but no one paid attention. We finally got our food, my husbands sushi was warm, he gagged when he took a bite and spit it out immediately, everyone’s sushi was about the size of a half dollar and was all imitation crab? I could go to Sam’s Club if I wanted fake crab for cheaper. After somewhat eating what tasted good, we got our bill at 6:40 (still only seeing our waitress 2-3 times) we paid 2 separate checks and when I get my receipt back I was charged $20 more then what my bill said. At this point our table is PILLED with dirty dishes all over because no one has cleared the salad and soup bowls and now our dinner plates. We had to get up ourselves to grab plates, extra forks and soy sauce since no one was trying to help us. Since we were there for my sisters birthday we wanted to get a dessert and sing but we literally couldn’t get anyone to help us with the dessert menu. I got up to go to the front to ask about my $20 overcharge and they had to find my server which took about 5 minutes, she literally said she did it all right and there was nothing that could be done. While I’m talking to her, I noticed my the rest of my family is leaving and another host is bringing me my purse and personally belongings. My sister was in the bathroom sick and I was starting to feel sick, so we all walk out and my mother tells me they were sitting there talking and finishing drinks and then a bunch of waitresses come up and clear the entire table (we all finally got our refills too) clean the table and rush us out. I was so shocked I couldn’t even think. I honestly shouldn’t have paid and still don’t think our dinner was worth any amount of money. We all took most of the food home but didn’t touch it. I don’t know if there’s new ownership but the environment, the people working and the food made up of the worst dinner experience I have ever received. We will never come back and will not recommend this place. Please go to Hans sushi, he’s sushi is massive, yummy and worth the price.

This evening(January 5th Monday) seemed like much busier than usual Mondays. I understood that I had to wait to be seated. I understood that it took longer time to receive the foods and to be checked by any waitress. I was able to see that the servers were very busy to figure everything out in the business. I appreciated that my waitress tried checking on my table even for a few times although she was super busy. For me, it is not a big deal if the foods are less hotter or not. Unless the foods are absolutely cold. I enjoyed my foods. My waitress was very kind. Thank her, Grace! I am happy for that the Japanese restaurant, Sakura is in Joplin.

A best kept secret in my opinion! Huge sushi menu and if you’re not a sushi fan I recommend the Razorback, which is hot & cooked with fish inside. Sushi for non sushi people. But the menu is extensive so everyone should be able to find something I think! The staff is nice and it’s a fun vibe. Not too fancy but a little bit of charm. It’s become a regular for us!

I love sushi and was in town and it was recommended by friends so wanted to try it out. The place is nice, seemed pretty clean, and the service was nice as well. Ordered a 3-sushi roll Bento Box that came with additional sides. Everything tasted pretty good. A few of the items were a little colder than I would expect, but overall the flavor was still pretty good. Not as good as some other sushi places that I have been to that are in the same price range, but overall it was still pretty good, and I wouldn’t mind coming back.

This is the best place in town for upscale Japanese cuisine. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is INCREDIBLE. My fiance was stuck on the Japanese Steakhouse for a long time until I took her here. I had been telling her how amazing it was for awhile and at the end of our meal she was hooked. She said she does not want to go anywhere else from now on. The service was also exceptional, our waitress was on top of everything and made sure she checked on us frequently. If you have not tried this place then you are missing out! If you are reading my review and decide to give it a try, please come back and let me know how good you think it is. You WILL NOT be disappointed I promise!!!

This was my first time here and my first time eating sushi and I was very pleased with both experiences. I went with my server’s suggestion of a bento box of two selections. With tempura shrimp and salmon roll, both were outstanding in taste and very fresh. Service was spot on, I could not have been more pleased with my first experience. Quite lovely decor as well.
