This location is part of “Bite of Vancouver 2026” promo; I got the Pork Duo and Shrimp in the menu, this consists of 2 types of pork, shrimp, and potato with the choice of hot/cold Udon then Mochi ice cream for dessert! This menu still includes unli soup and salad.

The only catch was the waiting for the order took i guess 40 minutes or an hour 🙁 We were starting to get hangry. I understand that the staff were pretty slammed but it would’ve been great to have extra staff on weekends especially with the promo going on.

I recommend fill the waiting line list online before coming to the restaurant. This will save you in waiting so long.

Other than that, the staffs were great though. Despite how busy and chaotic it was, they were all calm and smiling. We didn’t hear any shouting so kudos to the staff for handling the pressure so well! :))

SAKU Katsu Japanese restaurant-This was our first time visiting this newer restaurant in Burnaby Brentwood area. We went here expecting the “usual” Japanese great food choices, but we were very pleased to see that this restaurant serves a different kind of dinner meals, NO sushi. Breaded pork cutlets, breaded enormous shrimps and scallops, etc. Fresh tasty food and nicely served. Their meals come with the most excellent tasting miso soup-refillable, rice, nice pickles-refillables, and shredded cabbage-refillable. They have a really good menu. The atmosphere is so nice and bright, very clean, super friendly helpful servers, very popular! Fair prices‼

We tried this Japanese katsu place again yesterday. Besides pork katsu, they also offer chicken katsu, udon, and pork slice rice bowls, so there’s plenty of choice. Overall, the food quality is good, and this was my third visit.
This time, I ordered the premium cut pork katsu rice and was a bit disappointed. The first time I came, the pork quality really impressed me, but yesterday’s felt more like a standard pork chop with nothing particularly special. I’m not sure if it was just an off day, but it didn’t live up to my original impression.
On the positive side, we also ordered a chicken katsu rice, which was very good and definitely worth recommending. The service was friendly and polite. However, one small service issue stood out, after my first glass of water, I didn’t get a refill until almost the end of the meal. That could be improved.
One more thing to note: parking around the area, especially during BCR hours, can be difficult, so plan accordingly.

First time trying Katsu and I think I found my spot!

I ordered the Chicken Thigh Katsu Curry — absolutely delicious. It comes with miso soup, rice, and cabbage, and the portions are very generous (super filling!). The curry itself was rich and flavorful, and the best part? They’ll happily refill your rice, miso soup, or cabbage salad.

We also tried the Cheese Katsu and the Katsu Nabe — both were excellent. Everything felt fresh, crispy, and comforting.

One thing to note: they don’t serve dessert, so if you’re expecting something sweet at the end, it’s not on the menu. Honestly, you won’t need it… you’ll be full and satisfied.

Special tip: ask for the sesame dressing on your cabbage salad — game changer, it was espectacular.

Definitely coming back soon. Highly recommend if you’re into Japanese food or want to try Katsu for the first time.

I have to commend this place on everything! From the minute we walked in, we were greeted with warm a friendly smile and sat in a lovely booth. The restaurant is very beautiful and clean. The service exceptional! All servers were attentive to needs (refills, answering questions) and the food was just superb. My hubby and I went to a little Katsu restaurant in Kyoto station 2 years ago and drooled over the delicious meal we had and thought we would never find a place to match. This place was just as good if not better! Thank you for letting us relive a few amazing memories through your delicious food 🙂

First time we came to Saku, tried the pork chops and the prawn, it was so good. Their ramen was also delicious. I have never eaten any deep fried pork chops that is so tender, the prawns were so fresh. The salad dressing was the best to accompany the salad. Couldn’t stop eating the salad dressing. Service was very good, servers were always smiling eager to provide the best services. The atmosphere was magnificent, high ceiling, simplistic decor, clean and quiet. What a wonderful experience. We will definitely come back again to try other dishes.

Even though Tonkatsu is not fancy food, Saku has figured out a way to make the food look and feel premium. Everything is priced like a high class establishment but it’s really just basic food! Very tasty and portions are huge.

The music is so loud I can’t hear my wife across from me. I can’t hear the servers, when we call the servers they can’t hear us either! The atmosphere feels clean and classy but the music is so loud we can’t fully enjoy the experience.

The curry is delicious – roughly 85$ for 2 people. Maybe in Japan it’s never this expensive even at the most famous tonkatsu shop. Everything was very tasty at Saku

Great spot for Japanese katsu. The cutlet was perfectly crispy outside and tender inside, with a rich, savory sauce that pulled everything together. Portions were filling, sides were fresh with unlimited slaw, and everything came out hot and fast. Simple, satisfying, and exactly what you want when you’re craving katsu.

A definite must try, the food was amazing and the tonkatsu was delicious. You also get as much rice, salad, and miso as you like when you finish your initial set. There’s no reservations, so you should arrive early as it fills up quickly and there are often plenty of people waiting outside. They had a selection of seasonal lemonade when we went like yuzu lemonade and peach lemonade.

Their restaurants has a pleasant atmosphere and comfortable seating. Personally, I find the food at this location tastes even better. Out of the four of us, three ordered the Zenbu Katsu, which is like a sampler set, and it was always great to try a bit of everything. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, which I truly appreciate.
