Food was fresh, delicious and had generous portions. We had the Bento box for lunch and rolls choices, yummy!! Service was very good, timely and polite. Highly recommended, I would definitely return over and over again

The service was great and enjoyed the food. Our chef was super funny and added to the experience. I felt the steak could have been of better quality and portion size but the shrimp was delicious and in large quantity. The fried rice and salad were also delicious. Hibachi is always a little expensive at $41.00 a person for the steak/shrimp and a Pepsi. But overall enjoyed the experience!

Absolutely loved this place! Excellent, fresh tasting, delicious food. Good service. Nice ambience with the tables that provide private areas—it feels like a personal cubby hole and I love that!!!! Great value, great portions

Phenomenal Dinner at Sake

I took my team to Sake Japan for a team dinner, and it was hands down one of the best meals we had during our entire trip. Every single dish we ordered was absolutely phenomenal—flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The entire team was genuinely impressed.

While their menu is a bit different from other Sake locations I’ve been to, it was a pleasant surprise. The variety and quality more than made up for the differences, and everything we tried exceeded expectations.

Our server was also fantastic—friendly, attentive, and really added to the great vibe of the evening. Overall, Sake Japan delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in town!

Sake Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar? More like Sake it to me again! This place hits all the right notes—delicious food, awesome vibes, and just the kind of warm service that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit.

Let’s talk sushi: the spicy tuna avocado roll was so good I almost proposed to it. Fresh, flavorful, and drizzled in a spicy mayo that deserves its own fan club. The udon soup came in like a hug in a bowl—loaded with noodles, veggies, shrimp, and enough flavor to make my taste buds do a happy dance.

The chicken teriyaki arrived sizzling like it was fresh off a red carpet. Tender, juicy, and smothered in that sweet-savory glaze that made me forget I was supposed to be sharing.

Also, shoutout to the miso soup and salad for showing up like the dependable best friends they are. Classic, comforting, and never trying to steal the spotlight.

The service was speedy and super friendly—like, “we’re glad you’re here” friendly—not the fake kind. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, Sake is the kind of spot that keeps you coming back (with stretchy pants).

10/10 will be returning. Might even ask for a table for me and that sushi roll next time

It has taken me years to find a hibachi restaurant in the DMV that can accommodate a gluten allergy. I have celiac disease and so it’s incredibly difficult to eat a lot of types of asian food due to soy sauce, let alone something like hibachi on a shared grill. I called ahead to the restaurant and they told me they weren’t busy and could accommodate my allergy. My partner and I were sat alone at a hibachi grill that was fully wiped down and the servers and chef were all extremely careful with ensuring whatever I ordered would be safe. They had gluten free soy sauce and garlic butter. I spoke directly with the chef as well as several servers. They were honestly overly cautious with what they thought may contain gluten (so I clarified ingredients to know what I could have) but truly I felt so respected and accepted in this environment. It’s nothing fancy but it’s excellent food, really good hibachi “performance” by the chef, an an incredibly kind staff. I will absolutely be returning. Even witnessed 3 separate birthday celebrations they did while we were there — each with a neon sign, dessert, candle and song. The staff is extremely wholesome! Having celiac disease and a gluten allergy can be frustrating, but Sake Japanese Steakhouse was able to not only accommodate my allergy and cook gluten free hibachi on the grill, but they did it with a smile!

Today was my first time coming here. 1st I love that they have little booths off to the side. It made me want to come back very soon for a date night. The aesethetic in here is VERY nice. 2nd the menu is reasonably priced. I enjoyed the lunch teppanyaki pick two. 3rd our chef RAZ was AMAZING! He was super funny, charismatic, friendly, and the food was good. He stayed engaged with us the entire time and he introduced new jokes I hadn’t experienced at Hibachi before. He is on of the best chefs I’ve EVER through all my hibachi experiences. I will 100% return here.

We LOVE this place! Tried after getting their mail flyer…won’t go anywhere else. Have been back multiple times.
Sushi is on point – and what a value. Long time Old Town residents and have tried nearly every other sushi joint. This is the place to go.
PS While it’s cold now, their outside seating area is fun in the warmer weather.

Me and my family frequently visit this establishment because we love it , we never have any bad experiences with our meals which is why it saddens me to write this . Me and my fiancée visited here tonight , we let the waitress know (sugi i think was her name, she had a bob) . We let her know that we both have severe shell fish and mushroom allergies . When it came to getting the soup she still ended up giving us a soup that had mushrooms in it. When it came to getting our order made in front of us , the chef wasn’t made aware that we both had those allergies , which isn’t his fault it was ran through , by the waitress. Now it’s disappointing because now my fiancée is having to get benadryl for her neglegance . she wasn’t attentive , came off like she had better things to do and was on her phone the entire time . we will not be coming again

I recently dined here and, unfortunately, was disappointed with my experience. The vegetables were undercooked, and my steak was served well-done despite my request for medium. To make matters worse, I found a hair in my food toward the end of the meal. While I paid in full and did not expect otherwise, overall it was not the experience I had hoped for.
