We tried the hibachi dinners and the sushi
Food is good and plentiful
The chicken was a little tough, but good flavor. Rice was delicious
Sushi was nice and flavorful- there is a large variety
One person had Bento Box tempura and said it was great.
We’ll probably go back as there aren’t a lot of options in New Castle

We’ve eaten here for several years, but this experience was extremely disappointing. After eating sushi (raw and fried rolls) Monday night at Sake, both my husband and my 4-year-old became very sick with clear food-poisoning symptoms so much so that work had to be called off. I contacted the restaurant to let them know and to see what their policy is in situations like this, but they did not offer a refund, apology, or any form of accountability saying things like “we don’t have a policy on that, this has never happened before…I’ll check the food over again but it’s all made fresh everyday.”

When a child gets sick, I expect concern and if this has never happened before then why wouldn’t you offer reimbursement considering how rare the situation. For the price point I thought they would be more accommodating but it simply wasn’t the case. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and wanted to share our experience so other families know how they respond to food poisoning situations.

Where do I even start?
We went on a Saturday night, so I understand it may be their busiest time of the week. They had one waitress, and she worked super hard. But service was awful. We waited nearly 20 minutes just for drinks. We didn’t hear any noise in the kitchen until at least 15 minutes after we ordered. It was almost like the cook was late for work because tons of people were waiting! Once we finally got food, my order was wrong. Portions are pretty small for a Japanese restaurant. We both felt we didn’t leave full. The carpet is all stained. They had a little girl bussing tables and doing work who looked maybe 7 (see photo). We didn’t get sushi, so I can’t speak on that. They seemed more interested in mobile pickup orders compared to those dining in. The ginger dressing for the salad was the worst I’ve ever had! None of the food was very good at all. I strongly recommend NOT eating here.

Establishment was nice, but the service was subpar, and after 40 minutes of waiting, the food came out luke-warm to cold. The Crab Rangoon we ordered had hair on the corners, the food was smothered in sauce.

Hibachi Steak and Shrimp Lunch. Food was amazing as always and the waitress was nice! Definitely worth the price and make sure you tip the waitress!! She often works alone when the tables gets full and she does an amazing job at keeping up

Our family has been eating at Sake’s since they opened. At first it was a wonderful place to go as the food and service was fantastic! You got very large portions of really good food at a fairly reasonable price and the service was so much better. Before today, it had been almost a year since we had been in there due to bad service and food. I was hoping that maybe things had improved, but NO they definitely haven’t. The lady/Owner, who is always there, never once gave a proper greeting or ever ONCE checked on us. We asked to substitute a couple food items for our kids and it was an immediate NO!! We asked for yum yum sauce for our food and she just turned and walked off without any acknowledgment, so I didn’t know if she even heard me until she brought it back 5 min later. I truly understand why there are never any customers in there. I could probably deal with the bad service if the food was good, but the quality and quantity is much worse and it was still almost $100 with our kids eating off the kids menu at lunch time. I wish them luck, but a lot will have to change before we ever come back!

My sister and I were traveling from Pennsylvania to Texas and stopped in Sara was our server she was pleasant, speedy with her service, and overall a great server. If we take this route again we will definitely stop in. Thank you Sara!

I haven’t ate there but my kids have. They said food was great and the portions were large. Worth the price. The servers seem to be polite and smiling every time I go in to dash, but other staff don’t seem as happy to be there and some of the noises coming from the kitchen have left things a little less desirable but I’m sure that’s a rare occasion. My kids and mother had no complaints. As far as dashing they are pretty prompt with having the food ready or very close to ready when I arrive and I’ve never had any complaints on anything missing or their order being messed up or late.
