Even though the restaurant is quite small, everything tastes really fresh. I recommend the raw scallop appetizer. Maybe skip on the spider roll though.

I truly love this place! It may look humble from the outside, but the quality of the food is anything but—it could easily rival that of a fine dining restaurant. One of the bittersweet parts of graduating from Harvard and leaving Cambridge is knowing I’ll also be leaving this behind. Such a pleasant and unexpected gem, tucked among a sea of overpriced and overrated spots. The price is very very fair. All the specials are worth trying—my personal favorite is Phoenix!! 🙂 The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the food always comes out surprisingly fast.

Sakana Sushi is excellent! The fish bowl was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and the presentation makes it even better. Great food, great service, and an overall fantastic dining experience!

Kindest people ever!!! They stayed open late for me to pick up my order and they gave me lots of ginger dressing for free, on the house. There are so many sushi restaurants in Boston, that kind of generosity is what is going to make me want to Sakana.
Their food also tastes delicious. I highly recommend the eel sashimi which comes with crispy crunchies and eel sauce on top. Their food is very fresh tasting. They also accommodated my special requests (no Avacado on a salad).
Their caring about customers really makes the restaurant stand out. I Definitely recommend and hope you go to Sakana and try for yourself 🙂

Service is extremely efficient, staff are friendly, dinner and lunch specials are a great price for the amount of food, the crunchy roll is so underrated. Overall great sushi spot. Tables are a little bit close together (it’s a smaller restaurant).

Sakana Sushi is a nice place for sushi lovers, offering fresh rolls and a comfortable dining atmosphere. It’s a good option if you’re in the mood for Japanese cuisine. However, if you’re looking for homestyle, daily meals, Tiffinwales is also a great tiffin service you should consider. The food feels fresh, comforting, and well-balanced, making Tiffinwales a reliable choice for regular meals. It definitely deserves more attention, especially for anyone who prefers simple, homemade-style food.

The best sushi I have tried in the area. The flavors were creative and fish was so fresh!

Sad to say that the quality took quite a dive since Covid. Used to be a real gem of a place that punches above its weight. It’s still not too bad for the price, but sushi is significantly smaller, worse execution and just sort of nonchalant service.
Sashimi is cut into these ungainly cubes that’s really awkward. I have to guess they’re serving the end pieces leftover from the nigiri’s. Clearly there had been a change in staff. Probably better off just pay a bit more and go to Shoten.

The Sakana Roll is pretty good. I especially liked the seared salmon and jalapeños on the outside as they imparted a nice flavor to the roll, but the mango inside felt unnecessary and detracted from the dish.

Ordered $70 worth of sushi delivery, got subpar sushi that can only be described as disappointing. Tiny nigiri portions, squirmy fish texture, and a stale taste. Perhaps it would be better fresh and in person, but definitely not worth delivering.
