Always a pleasure to eat at Sakana! The sushi is consistently excellent. The staff is always friendly and its never rare to see the owner, who is an amazing host. A great environment for the whole family! Definitely recommend the Tataki! Itadakimasu Sakana!

Sakana offers a fresh, satisfying dining experience with well-prepared sushi, flavorful rolls, and thoughtfully presented dishes. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, service is attentive without feeling rushed, and the menu provides a nice balance of classic favorites and creative options. A dependable spot for quality Japanese cuisine and an enjoyable, casual meal.

Do not ever order for takeout. I’ve been supporting Sakana since they opened a few years back as a local Somersett resident. The sushi used to be great, but over the past two years declined badly. My recent takeout was of the specials they offer where you can pick 8 rolls for $50, then they charge for any substitution-in this case we asked to sub Ahi/maguro for salmon on a roll. The amount of Ahi was less than you would get on one piece of Nigiri rice. They only include 1 small side of Wasabi and charge you if you want more $1 each. Total out the door around $70. This sushi experience was so bad I’ve attached pictures to show. The rolls were basically rice with the minimum amount of other ingredients. The tempura shrimp in the middle had been cut into at least 1/4th’s and looked like a toothpick inside surrounded by layers of rice. The little amounts of fish were rubbery, dry, and not fresh. When I spoke to Sakana they told me this exactly. I’m sorry we do not have the same level Sushi Chefs doing to-go orders, it is not a priority, but special for you the customer to have such a good deal. Our to-go orders we cannot make for the same quality, because we make it such a special offer to you. We must make money and cannot by providing the same quality for to-go. I was then told to try Sushimi’s, or someone else in town for takeout. Worst service ever, I actually was just offering feedback to Sakana and I was not even wanting a refund–just to let them know how bad the food experience was. I will say Sushimi’s was incredible, the service, and way fresher– you cannot even compare them to Sakana’s poor quality and service. There are so many other Sushi options, I highly recommend you try any place other than here. The staff inside is so rude, the owner does not care about customers. If you want to feel like you are lucky to be allowed in this dining establishment and be lucky enough to be allowed to be a customer this is your place. Beware if you leave just a fragment of rice they will argue you must pay for an additional all you can eat. Awful Awful

Wow the best sushi I’ve had pretty sure anywhere. Don’t think of reno as a great place to get fresh seafood but dam if this isn’t going to be the place I’m thinking of when I go through Reno. Awesome staff and owner hats off to you!

While eating, Bryan made the statement, “Once you get used to it, its ok.” lol I enjoyed my one roll (Dragon) and Sake nigiri and will totally go back. FYI the Dynamite was weird and squishy. AYCE 32.95

We’ve been saving to take the kids out to Sushi. Sakana didn’t disappoint. We love that it’s not downtown. No need to fight traffic and hunt for a parking spot when one is within walking distance. Great place to go after the lunch crowd has left. I can see how service could be slow when it’s really busy. Sushi was great and the appetizers plentiful. Glad to have them in the area!!

I love the drive up to the top. The views are spectacular especially as the sun is setting. We were greeted by a very delightful staff. There was plenty of seating and the restaurant is very spacious. The menu is straight forward. The AYCE is worth every penny. I would be disappointed if we did a la carte.. the kids loved the variety of stuff they could order. Even my little one. The only thing that was a disappointment was the noise level. It was difficult to speak to one another. I had to speak really loud and I had a hard time hearing. It would be great if the noise level was not so high.

Service was a mess. Servers seemed confused, and orders get mixed up. We had to ask for new order sheets for the all-you-can-eat. The rice was the worst part—it was dry, tasted bad, and wasn’t sushi rice at all. The fish itself was not bad quality. They must know the rice is bad but they’re still serving it anyway.
