Sakana (Japanese for fish) is located in the same strip mall as Himalayan Fusion and Hong Kong Ruby. Went there for a weekday lunch. There’s a moldy smell upon entering, reminiscent of a dated motel lobby – not a good first impression. The space inside is quite large. Behind the reception area is the main dining area with about 12 medium sized tables. To the right is the hibachi section, consisting of 8 hibachi stations each with 2 griddles. None was active during our visit. Decor is average, nothing remarkable or appalling.
We ordered from the lunch menu: Sashimi Lunch $12.49, Steak Strips Bento Box $9.99, and Chicken Hibachi $9.99. The sashimi is decently prepared, with plenty of shredded daikon radish which I love. The bento box was on par. The chicken hibachi was prepared in the kitchen. Without a show, one might be better off with Chinese fried rice. It was all right.
There’s one wait staff during our visit, serving approximately 5 tables. She’s diligent and kept herself constantly busy, but somehow she missed quite a few details.at our table. Among other things, we had to ask for a missing soup, and then later a missing salad.
Overall a better than average “bootleg” Japanese restaurant. 3.5.

For the Central PA area, Sakana is one of the better spots to get sushi. We’ve been here 3 times and on the last visit when we arrived around 8pm on a Thursday, we were the only patrons. Last time we came on a busy Friday night and were disappointed with our salmon and california rolls.
However, this time we tried the speciality rolls:
– Rainbow Roll, $11.99, raw roll: crab, avocado, tobiko topped with the chef’s choice of fresh fish. We thought this was good but we could probably try something else next time
– Mt. Fuji Roll, $10.59, cooked roll: spicy crab, shrimp, cucumber, topped with baked salmon. This was our favorite and something we likely will repeat
We also tried the shrimp tempura appetizer but will probably skip that next time as it was more deeply fried than we wanted; we were hoping for a lighter batter.
Other than that, we liked everything else about Sakana like the service, parking, and interior. Also make sure to do a Yelp checkin for 10% off your check.

Food was fantastic, serving sizes more than you can eat all made fresh in front of you on the hibachi and they use Organic Chicken. This is the first time in a very long time I was able to eat chicken out!
My husband tried the Sushi, he got a serving of the Spicy Tuna Roll and loved it too! This is the first time since he went to Japan 2 years ago that he has had Sushi here because nothing has compared to what he has had there, and this was just about as good to Japanese Sushi.

This is my favorite hibachi restaurant in the area. The chefs are entertaining and amazing, and I have never had a bad meal. Prices are also great. HOWEVER, at my last visit with a group of friends, two people ordered sushi. We had our entire hibachi dinner cooked an eaten, and their food still hadn’t come. The chef asked the waitresses repeatedly where it was – he was as upset and pissed off as we were. Two hours later it came. It was not overly busy, and we watched other tables get theirs before us. On top of that, the hostess and wait staff was incredibly rude when my friend asked for it to be take off of their bill. They would not do it, and proceeded to then talk about us at the welcome bar. A very disappointing visit.

The place is beautiful the food was good but we waited 30 minutes between soup and salad. There was 1 Hibachi chef people actually or serve their soup and ended up leaving because the wait was so long. It wasn’t too bad for us but anyone who came in after us had a good long wait. Gets more chefs you’ll do a better business the food was delicious

We went on 3/14/19 to celebrate a birthday. Service was extremely slow. Only 1 waiter for 3 tables, so we had to ask for straws, etc several times. It took 40 mins for an appetizer. The chef was slow, & undercooked my seafood. We had to ask the waiter to acknowledge the birthday in our group. Dishes at the table were also dirty. Very underwhelming…especially for the price……..

My first Sakana experience was so great, that I decided to take my Mom for lunch, literally two days after I visited for the first time. I booked a reservation for two on their website, and specified that we were going to order Hibachi, so they could reserve two seats at a Hibachi grill. Upon getting to the restaurant, and checking in with the Hostess she told us that if we wanted Hibachi, we would have to order dinner portions and were not allowed to order from the lunch menu, because the minimum was four people. That rule is nowhere to be found on their menu, or on their website, and there is nothing about the minimum on the reservation screen. I advised her of this, and she repeated again that we could not order from the Lunch menu for just us two. The advertised lunch specials are 11-2pm Monday thru Friday, and that is all that is advertised.
We planned to order the Hibachi Lunch portions because we were also ordering sushi rolls, and didn’t need dinner portions at 1pm in the afternoon with Sushi/Soup/Salad. The first time I went was at dinner time, and the food portion was very large and we ended up taking the majority home.
The restaurant was completely empty, besides two women who were eating outside. So it appeared to me that they wanted to get the biggest possible check to have the chef come out to cook, since no customers were there.
We ended up leaving and going to Tokyo Diner not because we didn’t or couldn’t pay the entree prices, because I could have if I wanted to but because they were enforcing a rule that was never published to customers who had a reservation. So instead of them taking our business for lunch they lost our business altogether. We traveled from Hummelstown, just to eat there because my first time was so great. The food was excellent. It made me think twice about returning again.
So if you are going for LUNCH you must have at least four people, or you can’t order from the menu…or so that is what we were told.

I love this place! I eat sushi 95% of the time so this review is primarily focused on that part of their menu. The seafood tastes very fresh and the rolls are tight and hold up quite well. The prices are comparable to other similar restaurants, but the freshness and taste of their food is superb!

Won’t go back. Waited for almost two hours before the hibachi cook finally arrived to cook the meal. We waited while others who were seated after us got served before us. Manager was of no use. Owner has not called me back. Eight tables and only two hibachi cooks. Pathetic! And the meats were dry and overcooked. Don’t waste your money or your time. noon
