Came here with my family. Expected a nice experience. They made us wait 20 minutes for a table. Then 20 more to get water. The service was honestly god awful. They took way too long for everything and spilled multiple times. And then the food itself kinda sucked. When the group discussed the meal there were more negative than positive. Will never go back. Will never recommend this place to anyone. If your in the area you are better off eating the snow off the mountain

Nice Things by Sean
Amazing time at Sakaba! Excellent menu that should hit the spot for anyone. We particularly loved the California roll with soy paper (not seaweed), as well as the lobster roll.

The sake menu is also on point and we asked for a flight to try a few different types.

In the winter, dress warm and ask to be seated outside. Lots of heaters, fireplaces, and blankets.

We’ll be back.

One of the biggest reasons I recommend this restaurant is because of the atmosphere. There’s an indoor and outdoor seating, which is perfect for the summertime if you want to enjoy the nice weather.

The food is also very yummy, the seafood is very fresh, but here’s the deal: it is not cheap. I didn’t expect it to be! But I had higher expectations for what I was paying for.

My favorite things on the menu were the signature lobster roll, and the signature salmon avocado sisho. Those were def 10 out of 10.✨

However, the reason I gave this restaurant a 4/5 was because generally the rest of the food was truly between a two to four out of five.

I think this restaurant is perfect to have a little bite with your family and friends but I wouldn’t recommend it as a place you would go to have a full meal.

I don’t want to miss out on mentioning that the service was spectacular!

Overall a def 4/5!

Had a 7:45pm reservation. Waited with my group for 25 minutes and saw 3 other parties seated ahead of us, some of whom did not have reservations for before us. When we finally asked if they were ever planning to seat us, we were told no and shown a table outside as our only option (it is winter, negative temps) with not enough seats for our group. This was a beyond dehumanizing and disgusting treatment, and the staff was extremely aggressive and rude throughout it all. We are also members of the club, so this is especially disappointing treatment. Do not recommend— they are rude and aggressive.

I like the uni with rice very much. Two orders of it are satisfying to me. I like the miso black cod very much. I love the otoro sashimi. I like the cucumber salad.

Better than French Laundry!
This is not your run of the mill sushi bar. This one deserves a Michelin star! The fresh sushi melts in your mouth. The black cod is simply sublime and is a MUST. All the sushi is prepared with attention to subtle flavors. The impeccable service, and the knowledge of sake and wine, just makes this an experience you will savor!! Yes its not cheap…but worth it!

We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and it was great!

The service was very friendly and attentive, but also well-paced for a more leisurely dinner.

The chef’s choice sashimi omakase was great and allowed for a nice range, including fish we hadn’t tried before. The wagyu was incredible, especially with the condiments/accoutrements that come with it.

We had the most wonderful experience at Sakaba. We went to dinner here on our honeymoon and they made it a very special experience. They gave us a great table and decorated it with candles and flowers. The food was amazing and the service was quick. Joy and Shay made sure that we had everything we needed and more! Thank you so much for making our experience so amazing.

Sakaba is more than it’s Japanese namesake, more than a simple upscale sushi bar in a resort. Sakaba is the GO TO sushi restaurant in Vail. Sakaba is a full foodie experience, serving food that is beyond words for how deliciously divine. Pair that with the friendliness wait staff who are without a doubt the best in the world. The entire meal from start to finish was a feast for the senses. Each course is stunningly plated.
Each sushi and sashimi dish is unique and delectable with something truly special that the chefs have infused into each of them and I recommend adding extra fresh wasabi, to give the sushi a smooth spiciness that enhances the already mouth watering pieces.
For a main course the Miso Black Cod is a must for all seafood lovers.
And for dessert one must try the Miso Crème Brûlée as it is so inventive and works beautifully. The miso brings a unique Japanese taste to the classic dessert that makes it a delight. Of course, if a dinner guest has not a sweet tooth, the Hamachi as a dessert is a refreshing after meal closer.
