Hair in Food – Don’t Eat Here

We went here for a birthday dinner, and two people in our party found long black hair in their rice (we are all blondes so it definitely wasn’t ours!). One of those meals with hair belonged to the birthday girl, so she didn’t even get to eat.

The waitress removed the plates and later said they would comp one of the two meals. But to make matters worse they made it a point to charge automatic gratuity on the “comped” meal that was never eaten, which is unbelievable.

Multiple meals containing hair is absolutely disgusting and we will not be returning.

Amazing experience! The hibachi show makes it so much fun! Such a great place, love it here. I’ve been to multiple locations and they’re all great. Every time i go the food is always delicious. Definitely recommend coming here!

Went to eat with my partner and sat at the booth tables and not the hibachi bar. First waiter was kind and attentive then we got switched to another waiter and service was medium at best. Food was not as fresh as it could’ve been because the service was slow. Mind you it wasn’t even busy it was 2pm on a Saturday not even at the hibachi bar. Tip was then added automatically on the receipt even though it says they only add tips to parties of (4) or more. Then I go to my charges to find out I was charged a total of $104 instead of the original $84 (including tip). Why would I tip twice for such bad service? This is ridiculous don’t go here.

Iv Been eating at this restaurant over 10 plus years… this location sucks. From the service to the the taste of the food! City place location is 1000 times better!
Ordered my food to go today and they couldn’t even get the order right and the manager wouldn’t even get on the phone to address the situation! The girl on the phone was rude! She didn’t take the order right and blamed me! Like I said iv been coming to saito’s long time and I definitely won’t be going back to this location again!

Did the hibachi, it was fun.
I ordered the tofu app which they brought from the kitchen so I could add it to my dinner since I’m a vegetarian.
There was a lot of food, left with leftovers. The rice and veggies were absolutely delicious. I could eat the egg fried rice everyday.
My husband enjoyed the shrimp more than the scallops. They were a little chewy for him.

I think the Wellington Saitos is the best ever!!!!! The bartenders are tremendous and rhey make you feel like family…it is just somewhat disappointing that the bar area does not have televisions…the bar woukd definitely have more volume if there could be a couple of tvs on…there is a huge wall that seems to have an outlet and having a couple of tvs, framed out similarly to how the bar area has a Torii around the bar…if you could put a couple of tvs, framed with a Torii and back lit with the red lights, the bar area would gain a tremendous amount of business. with this year having the world cup in the United States, you guys definitely need to have tvs at the bar…Saitos, dont lose business because of this…

Saito’s is good not great. I’ve been to better Japanese Hibachi. They didn’t have sushi!!!The server wasn’t the most personable & took forever to bring us our check. The chef was good. Food was yummy but for the price I’d expect bigger/better quality. Definitely worth going at least once during your adventures in Wellington.

The food is excellent—but unfortunately, that’s the only highlight.
The person taking orders is cold, rude, and completely miscast for a guest-facing role. The entire dinner feels rushed, as if you’re being pushed through rather than welcomed. While the chef clearly knows how to cook, there is little to no personality, engagement, or communication—missing the very essence of a hibachi experience.

Hibachi dining should be lively and fun. This isn’t. The staff has zero charm. If Wellington had another hibachi or teppanyaki restaurant, it would be very warmly welcomed.

Overall bizarre experience.

Saito’s Japanese Steakhouse used to be a family and friends tradition for my birthday every year for about the past 4-5 years. Unfortunately, our most recent visit in 2024 didn’t meet the expectations set by previous years. It honestly felt like the experience declined over time, not because of the food, but because of the service.

The food is still lovely, and the chefs were great as always, but some of the wait staff were not very friendly. They seemed rushed, didn’t really let us enjoy the experience, and made the night feel hurried overall. We were a large group, which is understandable, but it felt like they were more focused on turning the table and the tip rather than making the experience enjoyable, especially with kids at the table.

Because of this, we decided to try something different this year, and it’s safe to say that this tradition has unfortunately come to an end. It’s disappointing because the food and chefs are still good, but the service really impacts the overall experience. I’d say it’s a bit hit or miss.

We had lunch at Saito’s Japanese Steakhouse on November 2nd with a party of 14, and I was very disappointed. The staff was not friendly or welcoming—everyone seemed unhappy and walked around with frowns. Our chef didn’t interact with anyone while cooking, which made the experience feel flat and unengaging.

Although the food portions were large, the quality and flavor were nothing to brag about. The restaurant itself could use a deep cleaning—the floors were sticky, and there was an unpleasant smell upon entering. The overall appearance looks tired and in need of an update.

To make matters worse, they automatically added a 30% gratuity, which is extremely high given the quality of both the service and the food. Considering the already high prices for the lunch menu, the experience simply didn’t live up to expectations. Overall, I was not impressed and would not recommend this location
