Saigon Restaurant: Authentic Vietnamese Delights in Omaha
Reviews
boy am i glad i did! i couldn’t find their menu online, and the Facebook was last updated in 2020 ? but that’s honestly my only qualm- mainly because Saigon deserves a lot of attention! i ordered the chicken pho over the phone- the one that was talked about in their reviews. i left quickly to pick it up as the woman i spoke with said they could make it in 10 minutes. when i arrived i saw a few tables dining at the ripe hour of 8:30pm- they close at 9pm. i thought, well it must be popular!
when i entered there was a very kind young man who grabbed my order for me. i told him it was my first time trying their food, and he excitedly grabbed me a take out menu and hilighted their most popular dishes for me. the atmosphere within the restaurant was clean, modern with a good touch of authenticity. beautiful lantern lights above each booth and table. it felt like a cozy version of a high-end cocktail bar. the lighting was not overbearing at all, and not completely dim to where you struggle to read the menu. i could see myself sitting there until close just enjoying the delicious food and company!
i took the pho home. the broth itself came in a large to-go container with a lid. the cooked chicken breast, noodles, scallions, bean sprouts, and anise(?) came in a to-go box. EVERY ingredient was fresh. the fragrance of the herbs wafted through the air when i opened the “box-o-beauty”. i was highly impressed with the attention to detail, the freshly cut herbs, onions, chicken, noodles. it also came with a small container of hoison sauce and two packets of Sriracha chili. i put the noodles, chicken, and bean sprouts in the bowl. after microwaving the broth (i honestly didn’t have to, it was still hot!), i poured it over the fixins. i then added the garnish, herbs, fresh jalapeno, and scallions. not only did this dish look beautiful, but it was JUST what i needed for the evening. 🙂
the broth itself was quite light, but depending on taste buds could have been eaten as is. i actually liked the fact that it was light because that made it more maliable to work with and season to taste. now in my opinion, those sauces are not a suggestion! they know full well that they have a great relationship with the pho base and ingredients. it came together so perfectly. chicken was not under or overcooked, noodles were not slimy and mushy or hard, everything in this dish was made to order. you can tell that Saigon and the employees take great pride in their food and their vision as a restaurant.
i added half of the hoison sauce from the container, one packet of Sriracha. i tried it and tasting it with the sauces brought everything together- all ingredients in perfect harmony. i will say, i did add my own splash of Kikkoman soy sauce to add a more savory note to the pho itself, as the hoison is good for a robust slightly sweeter flavour, and the Sriracha brings out the other flavours and adds a bit of spice. i would say for to-go orders maybe add one packet of soy sauce? but oh my lord am i impressed.
thank you Saigon for a great first experience! it’s few and far between where i am able to take a chance on a place and have an all around pleasant experience, especially for a dish that can so easily be mucked up or Americanized. i’ve determined you’re the place for pho in Omaha, and i’m excited to try your other dishes!
Its been very hard for me to find a pho that I like and saigon is the very first place that I had my husband trade me meals cause I was just shocked that I could finally be able to eat it and not make a face.
Other places the herbs come in too strong or the meat is overcooked. It’s been a struggle!!
We have stopped by almost 5 times since and we’ve always had such a lovely experience and the food is always been amazing.

Worst place in town.
I wish they had a better management team.
But she is the next generation from the parents.
Before, it was better when the parents ran it.
In running a business, you need to be nice to customers and be professional in the food industry
Not recommend!.
The Tofu dishes, in particular, were a standout. The Tofu was perfectly cooked, resulting in a delightful crispy texture that added a wonderful contrast to the flavors. The taste of the dishes was incredibly balanced, with just the right blend of savory, sweet, and spicy elements that Vietnamese cuisine is known for.
What truly set this restaurant apart, though, was the excellent service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making dining here a pleasure. The restaurant’s cleanliness also left a lasting impression, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable atmosphere
