Pretty authentic tastes and the food didn’t take too long to arrive. Parking was the only downside – but a short walk is good for the soul, mind and stomach.
It is Penang though, so a short walk might still be dangerous. Look both ways and don’t assume people will stop for you.

After almost two weeks in Malaysia. I was starting to crave fresh herbs and vegetables. So vietnamese food it is! Lucky this one was right next to my hotel. Couldn’t be more happy. I was in Saigon for Tet and the food here felt like home. Banh Xeo super crispy and the duck soup came with a really nice homemade sate sauce. Can’t recommend this place enough

Saigon House Cuisine is located right in the heart of Georgetown, Penang, making it a convenient spot for those exploring the city. However, parking around the restaurant can be quite a challenge, especially for cars, so be prepared to spend some time looking for a spot. On my visit, I ordered the chicken with rice and vegetables, which came with a small bowl of soup. While I usually have high expectations when it comes to Vietnamese food—often known for its fresh, vibrant, and homecooked feel—this meal unfortunately did not live up to that standard.
The dish lacked the depth of flavors I was hoping for. Instead of the bold, aromatic taste Vietnamese cuisine is often celebrated for, the food was rather plain and fell flat on the palate. To make things worse, it was served only lukewarm, which really took away the comfort of what should have been a warm, satisfying meal. The drinks were decent—the tea was fine and the lemongrass drink refreshing enough—but they didn’t stand out. Considering the price point, I felt the quality didn’t quite match the cost. With some improvements in flavor, heat, and presentation, Saigon House Cuisine could definitely offer a better experience.

Found some metal strips inside the rice vermicelli, oso one small bug (not pictured). Food hygiene needs to be better.
Meal was okay, a bit mediocre for rm25. The chilli dip is a bit too salty. Pork was nice, has nice crunch and chew. Overall 1/5 because of metal shaving. 2/5 for taste

First time to Saigon House Cuisine, you will notice that the area is amazingly clean & neat the moment you stepped into the restaurant, so much of choices you can find on the menu & the owners husband & wife are so humble, warm & friendly. Food really taste authentic like you are in Vietnam and definitely worth to try if you like Vietnamese cuisine. Moreover, this is the only restaurant that you can find Vietnam beer in the whole of Penang.

The location is strategic, but parking can be difficult. The place itself has a homey feel, though the waitstaff were a bit noisy during my visit.
The food was okay, but in my opinion, overpriced — understandable given it’s in a tourist area. Overall, it’s a decent spot to visit, but not my favorite, as the flavors were just average.

The best Vietnamese food in Penang. We had visit more than 4 times. But the avocado smoothie maybe need to improve, because is blended ice and mix water not really can taste avocado. Same with the pineapple juice, also add water.
