Mediterranean food is my absolute favorite and I love trying new places from different areas. The service here is amazing! We were greeted promptly, and our waitress was very attentive. The cafe is quaint and cozy, love the regional decor. It was steadily busy while we were there but everyone was greeted quickly!
The good:
The sage tea was amazing! Very good flavor whether enjoying it hot or cold
The hummus was very good.
Portions were good sized. (Two people could easily share a plate)
The chocolate baklava was to die for! Served warm and so delicate and amazing.
Right down the street from the penny arcade.

The not so good:
Prices are very high (understandable for the tourist area but I was hoping the food would match)
The felafel was almost cold, had it been hot it would have been a different story as the flavors were good but it wasn’t.
The lamb was tough.

Overall for a salad, a combo kabob plate, order of felafel and a baklava and 2 teas we paid over $80 which is steep for a lunch in my opinion. Especially to walk away disappointed at the food quality.
I’m happy we tried somewhere new today, the flavors were unique, I love Manitou Springs so I was excited to try Sahara Cafe today.

Please if you’re here at the Cave of the winds and starving don’t come to this place! The lady was nice to be honest but there was a guy waiter he was the rudest! They got our order wrong and we still had to either eat or leave!
And the food was cold

Awesome restaurant. Very authentic food and appropriately priced. I would eat here again if in the area. Staff were very attentive. Only negative would be single onsite bathroom. Nice ambiance.

We love this cafe! We all had chicken shawarma gyros, seasoned fries & tried the chocolate & almond baklava. The sandwiches had nice flavor, fries were perfect with the crispy outside/soft inside & the baklavas were SO good. I tried both the chocolate & almond and liked both equally!

Mediterranean cuisine is not really my thing. It uses a lot of cumin, which tastes like dirt to me. I don’t use cumin making chili for that reason. The family wanted to go here while in Manitou to try something different. The staff was friendly and attentive, the hummus was fresh and delicious. I tried the combo kebabs, to a person with the right pallet in sure they were to notch. I prefer my steaks rare and to me the lamb and chicken were over cooked and to the point of drying out. I know from experience with Indian food that this is normal and how it is commonly served, so don’t let me discourage those with the correct expectations. Presentation was great and my family enjoyed the experience, especially the break from Pizza and burgers on vacation.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend trying the Chicken Shawarma Gyro and the baklava—they were both delicious! The hot sage tea was also a standout and a must-try. Our waiter, Nova, had excellent recommendations and made our first visit to Sahara Cafe truly memorable. Impeccable service all around—we can’t wait to come back!

Cute little cafe! Waitress (young woman w curly/wavy black hair) was very nice and attentive. Got the lamb gyro, it was a little different from the gyros where I’m from (more tahini less tzatziki) but very delicious and well seasoned! If you get a side of fries – beware, the portion is very large. Perfect for sharing, but probably too much for most people to eat all by themself. I also got a sage tea, very good as well. Would definitely come here again!

Best food we ate while in Colorado. The tzatziki was amazing, everything was fresh and hot. Took a little bit to get our food, but we knew it was fresh and we weren’t in a hurry. Falafel was seasoned great. I have nothing but good things to say about our meal. Wish they had one of these in Tulsa. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for good Mediterranean food

Delicious Mediterranean spread. So fresh and well seasoned. Great portions. 4 stars only for the price being on the higher side. We are a mom and dad with a 6 year old. For a kids meal, appetizer and 2 entrees our total was $80 before tip. From sit down to check paid our experience was about 45 minutes. Not bad at all.

Large menu, vegetarian and non. Chicken Schwarma sandwich is large and filling. Try the side of falafel, it comes with really good hummus.
