After my parents went to Safwa a few times, I decided to try it with them to see what it’s like. And I have to say I’m quite impressed.

The outside is a bit unassuming, but once you step in, you can enjoy the stylish, tasteful interior. It was crowded but we were able to find a table, and it didn’t take too long for our orders to be ready.

The drinks were all great. The French Toast Latte actually tasted like its namesake, not just a vaguely cinnamon-y latte. The Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso was refreshing & sweet. And the Vanilla Nutmeg Matcha was a seasonal treat. We weren’t too hungry and split two items: the Hummus Toast and Pistachio Baklava. Both were great too, and the toast in particular surprised me with how well every component came together.

The best part might be that the prices are very reasonable given the quality.

Safwa is definitely worth a visit – or multiple!

Safwa is the kind of place you walk into and immediately feel like you’ve stepped into someone’s thoughtfully curated Pinterest board—warm arches, soft neutral tones, and pockets of cozy seating perfect for solo studying or a midday catch-up.

I came in hoping to try one of their fall specialty drinks, but most of them were pre-mixed with spiced toppings like cinnamon or nutmeg. I asked if any could be made without and was told they couldn’t separate them out—so I pivoted and went with their Spanish Latte with oat milk (no cinnamon), and I’m honestly glad I did. It was smooth, just the right level of sweetness, and the espresso flavor still came through.

For food, I tried the chili cheese croissant warmed up. The croissant was buttery and had a satisfying flaky crunch, but I do wish it had been heated a bit more evenly.

Overall, Safwa is definitely a spot I’d return to. The space is aesthetically on point, there’s plenty of seating, and the quality of the coffee alone makes it worth the drive.

This place is truly one of the best cafe spots in NJ. I love their coffee. Their flavors are rich. Food is okay. Their matcha is a hit or miss for me. Limited seating available. Clean bathroom. Available prayer area.

Everything we tried here was really good.
The atmosphere is warm yet professional, making it a great place to sit comfortably and get work done.

The menu is well thought out, and the latte was excellent — it had a distinct, refined flavor that clearly sets it apart from standard coffee.

You can truly feel the attention to quality.
Definitely a place I would confidently recommend.

Such a cute little cafe with the perfect ambiance and interior decor. The staff is super nice and seating is comfortable. Definitely recommend the Spanish latte. The Fall menu currently has a Banana Harvest latte which is amazing. I definitely need to go back and try more of their drink menu as well as the different food and pastries they offer.

Now for my standard comments. Location is very clean and well kept. Seating is comfortable and plenty of option to sit next to others or slightly separated. Parking is a lot and free as it is in a small shopping plaza.

The vibes here are amazing for meeting up with friends, birthdays, and even for studying or WFH. It’s not as crowded as when it first opened so I’m usually able to get a seat within minutes!

DRINKS:
The mango matcha with mango cold foam is amazing! Yummy without being too sweet.

I’ve tried the Afghani Chai, which was too sweet for me and unfortunately, they can’t lower the sweetness! But if you have a sweet tooth then definitely give it a try.

FOOD:
I love both the turkey and beef sandwiches. The bread they use is so yummy. And it comes with butter lettuce. Whatever mustard they’re using in the turkey sandwich is magical

This place is a very clean, chill, and well run cafe. The matcha is delicate and delicious, the cold brew is strong without being bitter, and in general both drinks we had were very well made.

The salmon toast was a perfect blend of flavors with their home made cream cheese and hearty toast. The pastrami sandwich was a delicate mix of savory flavors with a mayo-mustard sauce that elevated the flavors of the focaccia and pastrami.

And the chili cheese pastry I had was a wonderfully cheesy and mildly spicy bite to whet my appetite. Just enough spice to add heat but not enough to make me sweat. Absolutely delicious.

I can’t wait to have a meal and a drink here again. Top notch food and service all around.

Safwa Specialty Cafe lives up to its name, everything feels intentionally done, from the design to the desserts. The pistachio baklava and tiramisu were both excellent, the coffee smooth, and the space is beautiful and calm. It’s the kind of place you can actually get work done without losing your soul in background noise.

Only small downside: no one had cleaned the table we wanted, so we ended up doing it ourselves. Not a dealbreaker, but details matter in a place this polished.

Still, I’d come back in a heartbeat.

That place truly made our trip more amazing. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the delicious sandwiches paired with Afghan tea were the perfect complement to our conversation. I only wish it were closer to where we live.
Much recommended!!

I absolutely LOVEDDDD the brown sugar cinnamon latte that I got. They make their brown sugar syrup IN HOUSE and that is a huge bonus for me(I honestly still dream about that latte because it was so good). My friend got a caramel macchiato at she loved hers as well. The place is so aesthetically pleasing and beautiful! Feels like I’m in a cave in the best way. Would definitely come back here again!
