Located in Walla Walla, the very heart of Washington wine country, we’ve been creating Mediterranean fare since 2007. Inspired by our travels and the people we meet, we lovingly prepare dishes that celebrate the beauty of the Walla Walla Valley and the Pacific Northwest. Welcome!
Romantic restaurant serving imaginative takes on Spanish & Italian tapas, pizza & pasta.

Absolutely delightful experience experience. Service was outstanding, food was VERY authentic and clearly crafted with care. The decor is tasteful and stylish and yes, it has ambiance. The only thing that MIGHT detract for some (it was perfect for me) was portion size. For some it may be a problem, especially if you’re a big eater. Again perfect for me (and very traditional Mediterranean) but others may complain. Will go back again and again!

Saffron Mediterranean Kitchen is one of our favorite restaurants. My wife and I dine here frequently, and I can genuinely say we have enjoyed every single meal. The quality and flavors are consistently superb, as well as the great cocktails.
Our experience last night was no exception. The service was wonderful; our server was perfectly attentive without being intrusive. The food was divine, as always. We started with the Buñuelos des Pescado (halibut fritters), which were incredible. For my entree, the Méchoui Chicken was perfectly prepared, with a taste that was delightfully and authentically Mediterranean.
I highly recommend Saffron for authentic, high-quality Mediterranean food matched with excellent service. We already look forward to our next visit!

Saffron is a gift to us all with a few shortcomings. The oysters were surprisingly fresh for the region. The beef cheek appetizer with royal trumpet mushrooms was incredible. The PAELLA VALENCIANA was just mediocre with unfinished rice. The chicken was beautifully prepared, but we left the uncooked rice. The Gifford Hirlinger bordeaux blend was basic and overpriced. The people here are holding this place together. I just think it’s time for some QA to ensure they continue to serve us well.

Saffron has and always will be one of our absolute favorite experiences. The food is in a stratosphere of its own. Equally delicious and innovative. Our most recent experience was for their Breakfast for Dinner menu. Dishes were stellar and service was top tier. If you are visiting Walla Walla this is a must-see.

I’ve had the pleasure of eating at Saffron twice in the past week, once for dinner and once for their special lunch Pho Pop-Up menu. For the dinner, I tried appetizers, salad, main dishes, and desserts, and had the chance to try a lot of different items within these categories due to eating with a large group of friends and sharing what we all ordered. Everything was delicious, and I have specific praise for the flatbreads and handmade spaghettini noodles. This is the only restaurant I know of in our region that makes true handmade noodles, and the quality is so much better than that of typical packaged noodles. In general, all the dinner items exhibited culinary creativity without reckless experimentation—Saffron’s recipes are innovative, yet ensure sophisticated and subtle flavor combinations. The Pho Pop-Up lunch menu was also amazing. I’m assuming their Vietnamese chicken wings must have been great, because they were already sold out when I arrived, but I got to try the special pho soup, and it was fabulous. I moved here from a city that had excellent and countless pho restaurants, so I have tried a broad range of pho broths over the years. The Saffron broth was authentic (not some off-the-rails attempt at “Asian fusion” like a lot of local restaurants try to do), with a perfect balance of the key requisite Vietnamese spices, and the noodles were cooked perfectly—neither under- nor overcooked. I also loved the Saffron employees. They are knowledgeable, efficient, and impressively cheerful, even during rush hours when they have many tables to take care of. They are also passionate about the food they serve and will help people new to the restaurant pick something ideal for individual tastes. Will definitely be taking my sweetheart out for dinner here in the near future!

I was excited to try this restaurant because the online menu looked amazing, and the reviews were really good. However, I just felt middle of the road about everything, to be honest. The service was polite and expedient, but very remote and aloof (it was fine, but we got such warm good service everywhere else that it really stood out). The visual atmosphere was gorgeous and romantic, BUT we were seated next to the door and there is a deeply obnoxious bell on it that rang every 3 seconds. It is so hard to relax when DING-A-LING you are DING-A-LING interrupted DING-A-LING ever few seconds.
I was most excited about the food, but again just kind of let down. The pasta I had was really yummy, but the tuna in it did not taste fresh at all. I don’t want to throw accusations around, but it tasted exactly like canned tuna. With the prices we were paying, that was confusing. Overall, nothing would make me give an extremely bad review, but nothing really amazed me about the place. Maybe I just need to try another dish. My husband liked the flatbread, so maybe I should get that next time.

22 Years and Still Spicing Things Up!
We came to Saffron to celebrate our 22nd anniversary, and let me tell you—this place brought the flavor AND goodness. Every bite was a reminder that great things just get better with time (like marriage… and steak, pork, lamb). The food was legit—bold, fresh, and downright unforgettable. The service? Impeccable. We felt cared for, not just served.
After 22 years, we’ve eaten a lot of meals together—but this one’s going in the highlight reel.

Welcoming atmosphere combined with great service. The plates and cocktail were a recommendation from the server, stunning and utterly delicious. It was a quiet lunch complete with a solid playlist. Arrived right when they opened and basically had the place to myself.

Driving home to western Washington from a camping trip in Idaho, I stopped in Walla Walla for the night. One of the shop owners recommended I dine at Saffron, a Mediterranean kitchen with a strong Moroccan influence. It’s a place I’d like to go back to with friends so I can taste more of the wonderful small plates. (They also serve entrees, pastas and flatbreads.)
The meal had everything a good restaurant meal should have. An informed and engaging server, a unique menu, original cocktails that include my new favorite, an herbaceous Negroni-style drink called the Drink Me Seymour, interesting dishes that looked as good as they tasted and an unhurried, relaxing ambience.
I started with the cocktail and Fattoush, a refreshing tomato, cucumber and toasted Moroccan bread salad deliciously spiced with fresh herbs, Kefalotyri cheese, Walla Walla onions and green olives.
My server Chad suggested the beef cheeks, prepared on a bed of black eye peas with preserved lemon, green and yellow summer squash sautéed with onion and brought together with a salty spicy sauce of house-made tahini, hawaj and fresh herbs (that paired wonderfully with a glass of Two Vintners Grenache and some dense homemade sourdough bread).
I would happily have eaten more — the desserts looked delicious as well — I consider this is a destination restaurant worth a trip to Walla Walla all on its own.
