I ordered samosas, butter garlic naan, and spicy butter chicken. The spice level was milder than I expected, but the portions were generous and I left feeling satisfied. The presentation of the butter chicken could’ve been better.
Overall: 4 stars
Atmosphere: 3 stars — the restaurant was cold during our visit, and everyone at our table kept their coats on the entire time.
Service: 5 stars — our waiter was excellent, and the chef even came out to check that everything was to our liking.
Food: Good quality overall. The naan was a bit crunchier than what I’m used to, but still enjoyable.

Saffron was a very excellent restaurant! The food was very tasty, filling, and up to my standards. There’s definitely a large selection of vegetarian dishes and since I’m vegetarian I was able to have a complete meal and along with a refreshing mango lassi! The restaurant has good service as the waiters were friendly, kind, and casual. They made sure everyone got their food and they checked on us to see how we were doing and were greeted by the chefs themselves. The atmosphere was very vibrant with the lightning yet it was quiet and peaceful which enhanced my dinner experience. I’d definitely recommend to come to Saffron as the waiters are very friendly and they have great food! I’d give it a 5/5 rating and come next time for sure! Please come and visit Saffron!

I visited this Restaurant on the day it opened, and I can say that their food is one of the best I’ve tasted in the Des Moines area for Indian cuisine.
Their Service was smooth and quick and the wait time was a little long since opening day but it was totally worth it! The veg noodles were amazing, as they had a nice garlic base with the veg manchurian was super delicious! Would definitely recommend and has a nice ambience to the restaurant!! Their Manchurian is phenomenal as it has a nice wet sauce which is flavorful and delicious with a nice crunchy baby corn in the middle. They also provide delicious ice cream for guests to eat when they are done eating as a dessert with many more diverse items!

I recently ordered the samosa chaat, and honestly, it was okay-ish. Since I had mentioned “spicy,” they added a lot of chili — so much that it turned into more of a chili chaat rather than a proper samosa chaat. There were so many chilies that they actually got in the way of enjoying the dish. The chaat didn’t have any curd or chutneys, just a thick gravy topped with sev and samosa pieces. The portion size was good enough, but the lack of curd or chutneys made it less flavorful and appetizing. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but there’s definitely room for improvement. Adding some curd, chutneys, and balancing the spice level would make it much better.

We came to know about the opening of this Indian Restaurant a few days before the opening day.
We wanted to visit on the opening day for the Grand Buffet, but we got busy on that day.
However, we visited this restaurant the next day, on the Saturday.

The restaurant is located in a complex with few other establishments. Parking space was sufficient.

It was nice to see the decoration from the previous day. We were greeted warmly by the staff and the owners.
There were a couple families initially, but, slowly the restaurant starting getting more busier. It was good to see a new restaurant getting busy.

We started with BabyCorn Manchurian.
It was awesome. The crispiness, the taste, the spice and the sauce – were all perfect.

Next, we ordered Cheese Naan, Garlic Butter Naan and Bullet Naan.
Bullet Naan was not a part of the menu currently. But, on checking with the staff, they obliged to prepare it for us. Very kind and flexible of them.
All the Naans were well done – soft, thickness, taste, and baked to perfection.

For the entree, we chose Gongura Paneer. We requested it to be spicier.
The taste of GP was amazing. Authentic, flavorful, with the right spice. And quantity was also sufficient.
Gongura Paneer was one of the rare entrees to find on a Menu. I haven’t come across this dish in majority of the restaurants across the US.

Finally, we went with Paneer Biryani. We requested to customize the Biryani by including few veggies, and the Chef obliged.
The PB was one of the best Biryanis we’ve had in Des Moines and surrounding places.
The taste, the flavor, the masalas, the spice, the “Dum”, and the quantity were all perfect – just the way a “Traditional Biryani” should be.
And, even the Salan was very good. At many other restaurants, they don’t give too much attention to the salan.
But, here – the taste was very good.

The Chef had done an amazing job with all the dishes that we had ordered. The taste was top-notch.
The partners – Ravi, Ravi, Gopal, Srikanth – have done a nice job with this Restaurant.

Location is good. Staff is awesome. Owners are supportive and flexible.
Hope they continue to offer the same taste and quality even after a few months – and in the longer run.

PS:
Next week – we again returned back and ordered a Take-Out of Paneer Biryani again.
And, it was a repeat – amazing taste, flavor and spice.
Saffron – keep up the same taste and flavor.

Amazing experience! The taste and quality of the food are truly excellent. This is a highly recommended, must-visit dine-in place. I noticed many Americans choosing Indian dishes and dining here even though there are multiple other options nearby—such a great sign of how good the food is.

I tried the ghee roast biryani and the lunch buffet, and both were fantastic. Huge thumbs-up to the chef!

Visiting from Illinois for 6 months. Choose Saffron to try and wow. My husband and I love Indian food but this place blew us away. We had the fried cauliflower, garlic Naan and tambouri chicken. Truly the absolute best food. Service was outstanding with a focus on servicing us with utmost attention. We will definitely be returning. Apparently they have a lunch buffet. Will definitely have to try this

Went here for lunch and honestly loved almost everything I tried. The Saffron Gobi and Saffron Chicken were both amazing, definitely a must try. The Schezwan Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Noodles, Guthi Vankaya Pulao were super flavorful ! And the Mango Lassi was very fresh and the best. Would totally go back to try more!
