I appreciate the environment filled by nice music and warm lighting. It was a great time to enjoy as a group and share a meal together.

I ordered the lamb kabob with garlic naan, and we were given a complementary galub jamun dessert.

The service was kind and considerate of time! With how much food we got, it came out quickly.

I recommend the server named Saiful

Review is about vegetarian dinner experience. The food, we ordered, was actually good. Malai kofta, saag paneer, lachha parathas. Spice level well regulated, per requested expectation. Lachha parathas had much less shortening than we are accustomed to; but were still flaky and fresh. Coming to think of it, a healthier option than the oil dripping ones.
Taste of preparations, we ventured to consume, was ideally conforming to palates in the process of exploring Indian flavors, just short of ethnically preferred bold profiles.
Environment was relaxing with appealing ambient and accent lighting. Layout of ~34 diner seating, in 2s & 4s is smart, too. Well above Astoria standards.
Our server was attentive and professional, offered worthwhile inputs. Overall vibe was pleasant; we would definitely recommend this place.

Then, why 4 Stars: ‘Saffron’ is half-way down fine dining experience. Menu is commonplace; some signature dish, some differentiator, will elevate the profile. For a licensed restaurant, beverage offerings and pairings should probably be showcased better (we didn’t go for any spirits, though). Paper napkins don’t cut fine dining, please think in terms of table linens. We mean good, hope it’s taken in that spirit.

Parking is a perpetual problem in Astoria. One should think twice before driving in. Till then, this place will be a local favorite, at best. Or, provision it.

Amazing atmosphere and highly recommended food. The place feels warm, vibrant, and culturally rich. A must-try dish is the tomato and coconut soup—smooth, comforting, and packed with flavor with a subtle coconut twist. A unique and delicious dining experience. I’d definitely return.

Such a nice and surprise finding Saffron!. I ordered Sagg Paneer. It’s the best I ever had. Soft, creamy, perfect cheese inside. I also enjoy the papad and spiced sauces too! I literally can “drink” them! The dessert, Kheer is amazing as well! Absolutely recommended!

I have been a long time customer of saffron knowing it is the best Indian restaurant one can find. I just took friends there ( who r (who has been to many fine restaurants). They were very impressed. Like myself they agreed the amnia ce was colorful cozy n very welcoming. The food from the 4 appetizers they tried including samosa a wallflower in n two others were superb. The dinners from the goat, spin h paneer and a chicken dish with a coconut sauce were absolutely delicious. And the 4 desserts we had was just as delicious as one could want. The service was extremely attentive. It was an extremely pleasant dining experience n could not ask before. My friends agreed with me that it is all around five star restaurant n look forward to returning again. amazing does not come close to the experience we had. Excellent for both vegetarian n non vegetarian

What a beautiful experience! I’ve been coming here for years. Staff are so welcoming and this is authentic Indian! The waitstaff especially Angel, are knowledgeable and will accommodate your spice level and any questions you might have. Save room for rice pudding and there is even backyard for late night eats with a chill vibe!

Ambience is the best. Perfect for a date night dinner.

Food taste was okay. Service was below par. Too late for everything. I understand that only one server was available.

Ordered Shahi Paneer and Chana masala. It was sweet and and Chana masala was too much with tomato paste. Not authentic.

The complimentary chutney and papas was good. Price was reasonable.
