What drew me this day was the promised menu, “our favorite dishes and yours” and it was sumptuous! There were at least 11 items on the cold bar, and I quickly learned why the whipped feta with honeycomb and pomegranate, roasted garlic hummus with homemade pita and the roasted carrots are so often mentioned by reviewers–fabulous, but indeed, every dish was delicious. The main dishes were amazing–from harissa chicken and the most wonderful braised lamb to salmon, shrimp (which I enjoyed) and the prime rib (which I was too full to sample.). The lamb for me was definitely the star–and the braise was flavorful and the cuts of lamb just pure tender moist bites! But it was the hot dish bar that surprised me. The Yukon mash must have had a lb of butter in it–and tasted like my grandmother’s! The jeweled rice and green beans, excellent…but the fried Brussel sprouts (in some sort of glaze) and the roasted spiced squash with goat cheese cream and pepitas stole the night for me!! I went back for lamb and the those 2 veggies twice–but the squash and sprouts along with the cold bar could stand on their own for anyone preferring to not eat meat.
The drinks were beautiful works of art–and the dessert buffet with 4 kinds of Cookes, 4 kinds of bars plus lemon bars, pistachio baklava, beignets and half a dozen more were beyond me, but I was given a to go box and thoroughly enjoyed my choices the next day!
Jennie, the bar tender, was the one who found me a place at the meal and greeted me so personally…and the staff welcomed me by name, and provided amazing service (I had never tipped 30% prior, but I did that night!). All in all, if you are looking for creative, outside-the-box Mediterranean dishes, expertly prepared and presented, in a lovely atmosphere with excellent service–Sadie’s is the place to go! The chef is a master–respectful, using traditional ingredients, but also playful and bold, taking risks and creating surprising flavors. I highly recommend for a fancy evening out, but you can try some of these fabulous dishes for lunch at a fairly economical price!
My son has a nut and seafood allergy and I totally forgot to tell them. I ordered a dish that contains fish (anchovies in the salad dressing), and they came out and asked who had the fish ALLERGY. WOW, I mean WOW they remembered! Oh my goodness I cannot say enough about Sadie’s staff! And no, I don’t work for them. They did not put me up to writing this review. I just give praise where praise is due. Oh, and I almost forgot I told my waitress that I was watching my salt intake so she decided to tell the cook not to put extra salt on top of the whole roast chicken dish. Just amazing.
Thank you Madeline, Stephanie, and the rest of the SADIE’S crew! See you Saturday!
We started with the whipped feta appetizer, and the honeycomb with edible flowers was a great touch. The tuna crudo was next. I highly recommend if you like fish with a pickle relish twist. The watermelon salad with pistachios was a unique combo, but it worked and was delicious.
For our main course, we shared the six-hour lamb shank. The meat was cooked perfectly, but the flavor was a bit underwhelming for us.
For drinks, we went with mocktails the guava ginger and the pathos both excellent.
If you’re looking for a beautiful atmosphere and great service, I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try.
