This was a great stop while visiting Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The coffee and food was soooo good. They have a play area for the kids and are pet friendly. We visited 3 times during our stay at the state park. It was a cool calm vibe. Definitely a must if in the area.

Cute little convenient shop with everything you need to camp, little necessities, even things to spruce up your camping experience. Cool gift shop and souvenirs. They have a little finger foods, coffee and drinks to order. And a happy hour. Fun little area outside for kids to run around. You can bring your dog, overlooking beautiful landscape that has longhorn.

Must stop after hiking at Palo Duro!
We went around noon on a Monday and there was no one else for awhile. One of the ovens was broken so food too much longer but the staff was kind enough to let us know beforehand!
Plus, there were board games to keep us occupied.
Food were the basics, but much better than anticipated!
There was a little gift shop as well.
Would definitely recommend!

Sad Monkey Mercantile is a neat little stop just outside Palo Duro Canyon, and definitely worth pulling over for. It’s got a cool, rustic vibe with unique local goods, souvenirs, snacks, and drinks—way more personality than your typical gift shop. Great spot to grab a cold drink or browse a bit after a day in the canyon. Friendly staff and a fun place to wind down before hitting the road again!

Stopped by with the family on a whim during their sandwich happy hour and had a great time. I got the B.E.L.T. And the egg was perfectly fried. Their cold brew coffee is also fantastic, very strong and very delicious. They have a really nice outdoor area to sit and a playground for the kids, too.

The perfect place to relax after a hike in the canyon! We visited several times a day while we were staying by Palo Duro. Perfect for an iced latte, a snack, or a hearty sandwich after a long day! Great selection of coffee, snacks, draft beers, and any supplies you might need. Pups are also allowed, so you can bring in your dog after you’ve all had a day in the canyon.
Can’t recommend enough! Staff were all wonderful and it was just a great place to hangout.

Love the McMonkey muffin! It’s delicious! Comes with sausage, hash brown and egg with their specialty sauce which is slightly spicy. We enjoyed our time browsing the store while waiting for breakfast. The shop has a lot of interesting products – from camping items, snacks,to “monkey” branded products. They also have some games in store for you to play. We enjoyed spending our time here!

We happened upon Sad Monkey after hiking in Palo Duro Park. It was very good. I had a the pepperoni pizza and my wife had the turkey sandwich. The staff were very pleasant and the Blackberry Mead draft was delicious. The place was very clean with a nice atmosphere. Dogs are welcome!

What an amazing place on the periphery of Palo Duro Canyon. The building is spotless, it looks like it opened yesterday (we asked and it has been open a couple of years).
The Sad Monkey’s breakfast burritos are huge and some of the best I have had anywhere. They even have a coffee bar and craft beer on tap! They have some great souvenirs as well as camping supplies.
While the food, beverages, and facilities are all fantastic, the true shining stars are the staff. All were young, very friendly, and enthusiastic about the place and their products.
I wish this was located closer to us, it would be a regular stop.
