A modern, a la carte style restraunt, much like other popular chains. I thought their chips and guacamole were the highlight of our meal. We also tried the crunchy burrito & quesabirria. Both had great presentations but really lacked any resemblance of spice, flavor, & flare. Very bland food.

Sabroso! Mexican Food Restaurant is a great place to get local goodies. This place is located by Mall Drive in Benton Harbor. I appreciate the clean atmosphere and the beautiful staff who are friendly, hospitable, and show their passion for good Mexican food.

I also love the fast service. Usually, there’s a little bit of a wait for good Mexican food, but they serve as an assembly line when you order. Everything is ready, waiting to be plated.

My favorite was the birrias tacos. Great flavor, great spice, and great acidity. I love the handwritten menu, and I love the authentic feel of Sabroso! The street corn brought me back to my childhood. All in all, great experience at Sabroso! Mexican Food Restaurant!

Horrible food like idk how they are open. The pictures they have posted are bullshit their food doesn’t look like that at all. My husband got a quesadilla absolutely dry no grease no flavor.
I got barria ramen it was bland pot roast in beef ramen noodles. That was disgusting im so angry I wasted 30$ here. Don’t let their fake delicious looking pics fool you absolutely trash food will never be back!

LOVE this place. Great food. Haven’t walked away disappointed or hungry. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It is honestly so of the best Mexican food I’ve had and I’ve had a lot of Mexican food. There are a ton of options for Mexican food in the area but you would be hard to find one as great as Sabroso.

When you walk into Sabroso, you’ll see a giant chalkboard which serves as the menu. After making your entre selection, you’ll head down the counter to pick out the exact ingredients you want in your dish. For instance, you have choices for different types of meats, beans, cheeses, rice, and sauces. They also have vegetarian options.
My wife and I started with the Crunchy Burrito, which is built on a crispy corn tortilla. Meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and guacamole were piled on the tortilla and then it was wrapped inside of a huge fresh-made flour tortilla and grill-pressed. Once it was warmed, a thick queso sauce was poured over the top. We chose steak as our protein and went with the hot sauce. Both were good choices for our daring pallets. I loved how the warm, soft flour tortilla was contrasted by the crunchy corn tortilla inside. The other contrast that I liked was the heat from the grilled tortilla, yet the lettuce and tomatoes were still cool and crisp inside. The queso was over the top! (Pun intended.)
The Calibirria Burrito is wrapped up potatoes, cheese, onion, and cilantro and featured a meat known as birria. I’ve only ever had birria in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in the state of Jalisco. Jalisco is proudly the home of tequila, mariachi bands and…birria. It is a very savory and tender beef, lamb or goat which is slow-cooked and often served as a soup or stew. (Think of grandma’s tender pot roast, but with chili pepper as the primary seasoning.) The chunks of potatoes in this burrito were large and firm, yet fully cooked. I’ve had mushy potatoes in burritos before, but not here. The fresh, citrusy bite of cilantro and the crisp pungent flavor of fresh onion really balanced out the more neutral and savory notes from the potatoes and the birria respectively. I enjoyed squeezing a little fresh lime onto the burrito, which lent an extra authentic taste. The large chunks of meat and potatoes in the Calibirria Burrito will leave you very satiated.
Despite being stuffed like a burrito, we just had to try one more dish. The Quesabirria is one of Sabroso’s most popular dishes (according to the owner), and it, too, stars birria. Three piping-hot corn tortilla quesadillas were folded into tacos which enveloped a generous serving of birria. The tacos were topped with chopped onions, cilantro, and radishes. It is served with a side cup of birria soup. Growing up, I used to dunk grilled cheese sandwich into tomato soup, and I imagine people in the state of Jalisco grew up dunking their quesadillas into birria soup. This is one of my favorite Mexican dishes I have ever had. I loved the gooey, melted cheese inside the grilled corn tortillas. The meat was so tender and flavorful, and dunking the tacos into the birria soup was so scrumptious. The fresh garnish on top was visually appealing and pleasingly fragrant. I tip my sombrero for this meal.
Their service is quick, so technically I suppose it is fast food, but these are family recipes, served by family. The word “sabroso” means “tasty” in Spanish, and I believe the name is perfecto!

We got the Calibirria burrito with the cheese crust, 2 traditional steak tacos, street corn, flautas, walking taco, churro and horchata. The burrito was packed with flavor although a bit messy. The meat needed seasoning, not sure but it needed something more. The tacos tasted like your typical steak/asada tacos, they were not super greasy and were flavorful. The rice and beans were good but again, the rice needed a little more flavor, seasoning, and the beans were not your typical Mexican beans. The street corn was good. It is overpriced for the amount you get. The horchata was not good, tasted more like an oatmeal drink. The walking taco was ok. The hot Cheetos bag was the small 1oz bag so I’d say that this is also overpriced. Very small portions added to it. The churro did not taste good. They have pepsi products. There are a few vegetarian options. Overall, the food is just ok. Not terrible, but not the greatest either. Their prices are reasonable considering they are a small place. It’ll scratch the itch. Friendly staff quick service. Clean restrooms and some tables to dine in (6 or a little more possibly) 3 stars for now. We’ll try some other items next time and update.

Walking in, they have the menu clearly written out and in large letters so that you can read before you get up to the window.
We got steak nachos and steak tacos, and let me tell you and they were amazing.
The view inside of the restaurant you can see the entire kitchen, and it is one of the cleanest kitchens I have ever seen and I used to work for restaurants. The staff was very friendly and got right on our order.
They do have options of sitting at the table and scanning a code so you can order and they will bring it to you as well.
Since this first time we went, we have eaten there two other times as well. I highly recommend.

This place is now my favorite fast restaurant – Moe’s is now 2nd, and Chipotle doesn’t place.

Food tasted excellent, staff were very friendly, and first time I’ve complimented the atmosphere of any place. Price isn’t anything to be happy about, nor mad. Middle of the road.

They also do molded chocolates at a price you won’t believe! Made to order too; perfect place for edible gifts and probably the only near the area.

I want to see this place succeed so I can keep going there so at least give it a chance!

Wow I’m so pleased with our experience here. This is our first time visiting a Sabroso and it was wonderful. The food was outstanding, I had a walking taco with chicken, my husband had a quesabirria burrito and just wow. I’m a picky eater and usually pick through my food but not here. I couldn’t stop eating my food, everything was so fresh, they made fresh potatoes for my husbands burrito because there weren’t quite enough for his dish. I’m just so impressed. Very efficient and friendly staff. They’re so quick to make your food and it’s so tasty! I will definitely come back here when I’m in the area again!
