A great cozy, authentic and excellent Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is very welcoming. The lady was really sweet and attentive. We had an order of Sopes and Tostadas, was really amazing. The taste was marvelous, really fresh ingredients perfectly cooked, and was served really quick. We also have guacamole and was delicious, like fresh made. They have Jarritos a Mexican soda, that you must try.
Our experience was delightful, flavorful and very pleasant. This place is a hidden gem. For me, the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been. Muchas gracias.

Looking for amazing authentic Mexican food? You found the place. The owners are wonderful, polite and gracious, they really make you feel right at home. I had such a great time here with my boyfriend and his aunt for a simple dinner, we ended up having such a good time. Once you converse with the owners who not only cook and serve the food, you feel the humble and gracious atmosphere. Def will be coming back! I had a spot that was my favorite but this place is so much bette in comparison, much more authentic and relaxing!

We live in town & never tried here. It’s not much to look at, but the food was very good & fresh. It appears to be family run. They unfortunately didn’t have certain menu items, but what we had was very good: chicken burritos & carnitas tacos. I actually ordered more tacos because they were so good! The homemade hotsauce was very good as well. We will definitely be back to enjoy more meals here & support a local business in our community.

I don’t understand why more people don’t know about this place because this is the best real Mexican food I’ve had. Everything is cooked with love and the woman that owns the restaurant is extremely talented. If you want some of the best tacos, get the carne asada-it is PHENOMENAL. I can not express how amazing this place is. A true local gem.

What a fantastic restaurant! My fiance and I have been searching for an authentic mom and pop Mexican restaurant for years. When we moved to this area, little did we know our search would be over! Sabor A Mexico takes us right back to some of our most favorite places in Mexico.
Their dishes are succulent and filled with flavor. They not only have real authentic Mexican dishes (try the Arrachera for a skirt steak which will make your mouth water or the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo for large juicy pieces of shrimp in an amazing garlic sauce) but they also have your typical dishes like enchiladas, burrito, tacos and an array of fajitas. The guacamole is to die for! And I am a huge fan of really good guacamole.
When you first sit down, the waitress will bring you homemade tortilla chips and their house salsa dip. It’s delicious! Try to not fill up on them though because the appetizers and main dishes are incredible.
This will be our new spot at least once or twice a month. We are so happy to have found this little place in downtown Rockaway!! The servers are extremely nice and will make you feel right at home.

We started our meal by ordering Queso Fundido. This dish is made by sauteeing finely chopped chorizo until crispy. It is then mixed with Oaxaca cheese and broiled until bubbly. This restaurant served us Velveeta cheese with four small uncooked chunks of chorizo!!!
Our main course was ground beef enchiladas with red sauce. The enchiladas came with refried beans and yellow rice. The yellow rice was very plain. They make no attempt at adding flavor to it. The refried beans we’re also very out of the can plain. Again, no spices added to it. The ground beef did not have any cumin, no acidic note (tanginess) and no sofrito. The cheese over the enchiladas was not melted.
It is clear that this restaurant gets so many good reviews because it is frequented by people that know nothing about Mexican food.
I give this restaurant one star, instead of zero stars, because the diet Coke and the Poland spring water that they served us were of great quality.

Nasty front desk girl attitude. No one was at the restaurant at 4:30pm.when we arrived, no one gave us a menu (my husband and I took one from the front desk) she kind of gave us a look.
Then after reviewing the menu for a little bit we asked the same girl from our table some questions about the menu the last question was: do you make the corn tortillas here ? And she scoffed at me . That issas the last thing I want from a place more so when I am being polite and nice.
Never going back there … Probably that’s why the place was empty to begin with.

Called to order steak tacos for lunch for my office. Was told they don’t have steak items at lunch even though its on their menu. I politely said I had to check with my co-workers to see if ground beef was okay and that I’d call back. Two minutes later I called back with my answer and they put the phone down and wouldn’t talk to me. I figured it was a mistake and called back. She yelled at me for bothering her and hung up on me. Called Riviera Maya instead!!

Growing up in Southern California taught me to appreciate lovingly prepared Mexican food. Savor a Mexico recreates that experience for me. It’s a delightful small family place that always makes me feel at home.
