We started with the Italian shrimp appetizer, which was delicious, paired with a classic old-fashioned. For my main course, I had the salmon with rice and a side of buttery sweet carrots. My husband ordered the steak with mushrooms and the same sweet carrot side. Everything was excellent!
I highly recommend stopping by and trying the food. I can’t say enough about how pleasantly surprised we were. This place is definitely worth a visit!
The only issue is that they are not open every day, and they also have limited hours as well.
When you walk into this place, you feel like you’re stepping back into the 70’s or early 80’s, minus all of the cigarette smoke.
The place is slightly dark and dated, with lots of old style Tiffany lamps and stained glass windows and a few slot machines by the bar area, so you can try your luck.
The staff is friendly and they seem to know most of their clientele by first name.
I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, great service and the awesome food.
I can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu, also a juicy prime rib.
We walked in and couldn’t find a hostess, or an employee that wasn’t running around and occupied. The bar wasn’t even full, and yet the bartender looked slammed. No obvious host desk to check in, and I’m not sure which door was the true entrance even, we followed an older couple into what seemed like a back door, wandered to the bar area and found another door, but still wasn’t sure we were in the right place. It took several minutes of us standing around awkwardly in the front before a server finally asked if we were waiting.
We saw their social media saying prime rib starts at 5, come early, so we came at 6 and it was already gone. Um, if you know your Saturday special sells out in under an hour, then at least double how much you’re making!
Eventually we ordered. After the first round of drinks, we didn’t see our waitress again until the dinner was served. She definitely missed out on a few additional rounds of drinks that we would have ordered. Instead we sat there sad as our glasses, both alcohol and water, sat empty.
The food itself was good, though it was just an awkward process overall. I don’t know if they were short staffed that night, or if the business just doesn’t hire enough people, but in any event, them not having enough workers that day soiled our overall experience.
The real locals won’t tell you about this place, it’s more of a regular crowd showing here and much more of a place for a family style dinner.
You seldom see young adults or children here, but it’s for the best of reasons as it’s more of a diners club than anything else.
