I ordered Kao Pad Ki Mao, fried banana, 1 Thai tea, and a pad Thai. First, they did NOT even provide utensils to eat whatsoever and if you’re like me and drove away, you have to get yourself one elsewhere. Then, NEVER in my life had I EVER had spicy Kao Pad Ki Mao (fried rice)! I wanted to share my fried rice with my 2 year old and it was spicy!! My baby cannot eat spicy!! Next, the pad Thai was EXTREMELY plain. It had NO sauce or taste. Lastly, they even FORGOT my Thai Tea!! I called them about the Thai Tea and they even responded they CANNOT issue a refund! Like wow, it couldn’t get better. Sadly it’s a waste of our time & money! Honestly disappointed! Never ever coming here.
Sabai is hands down one of my favorite spots in Richmond! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and full of great energy. The customer service is consistently top-notch—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff who make sure you’re taken care of every step of the way.
Now let’s talk about the food—absolutely incredible! Every dish is packed with authentic Thai flavors, made with fresh ingredients and beautifully presented. Whether you’re ordering a classic like Pad Thai or something a little more adventurous, the flavors are bold and satisfying. Their curries are rich and flavorful, and the small plates are perfect for sharing.
Sabai strikes the perfect balance between great food, outstanding service, and a cool vibe. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Richmond!
I thought I was the only one who got almost half a portion(to be honest its way less) but when i read the reviews its clear if anyone orders a takeaway you will need to check your food while you are at the resturant. $30.94 for not even half a plate is a RIP-OFF. I even called the resturant when I got home and saw the food, the lady who answered the phone said the manager will call me back that was 06/30/2025 around 7.10 pm, and no one called back. I’m usually fair, but charging full price, mess up the order, and trying not to make up for it is the WORST customer service. Never going back
We were a larger party, which I understand can be challenging, but the service was unacceptable. After being seated, it took about 15 minutes just to receive water. After our orders were taken, we didn’t start getting drinks until roughly 45 minutes later. A few of the appetizers arrived before all of our drinks did. When I asked about the delays, the server responded that she had been bringing drinks out “one or two at a time.” Oddly, the beers and wines took the longest.
Our entrées took just as long—around an hour forty five. We were given an excuse about a fish dish taking 45 minutes to cook, but it arrived well beyond that timeframe. One entrée even came out shortly after the appetizers, while the rest didn’t arrive for a very long time.
A table seated after us received their drinks, entrées, and finished eating before we even had all of our beverages.
The server never checked in to offer drink refills; we had to ask for more water ourselves. She didn’t check back after dropping off the food and never apologized for the excessive wait times.
We were celebrating a birthday before a concert, and we ended up missing the first half of the show because of the delays. We then had to rush through our meals and the cake we brought.
To top it off, the server added a 20% gratuity to our checks, despite providing some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced. She seemed high or something. Honestly, we would have been better off going to the McDonald’s across the street.
We thought about asking for a manager, but figured it probably wouldn’t help much if they hadn’t noticed this going on with one of the tables on their own.
The restaurant had also informed us there would be a $110 charge if we didn’t show up. Between that and the automatic gratuity, it really feels like they’re only looking out for themselves. Avoid Aah’Niyah P if you do go.
