From the moment you enter your feel like you are in a downtown, upscale lounge, gorgeous decor and lighting, music at just the right volume to create a vibe yet still hear the people you’re with.
Mr. M greeted us with a smile and proceeded to create a fabulous dining experience. Our lunch was full of delicious recommendations and perfectly timed course after course. Fresh herbs amplified the flavors in every dish. We had the lentils and the okra with eggplant, followed by the beef kebab. The garlic naan was just right.
Sometimes kebabs can be flavorful yet tough, these were so tender and tasty with a soft lingering heat, Best I’ve ever had. Taking a bite of beef with the cucumber salad wow! Clearly the chef knows how to handle meat and combine spices.
The mocktails were so well crafted, i didn’t miss the alcohol!
First time i ever had green apple creme brulee, next to their tea and homemade sugar cookie, perfect end to the meal.
This is a perfect spot to impress a business associate, hold a networking event or have a romantic date night. We can’t wait to return, so many other dishes to try!
Moving on, I thought the food was very flavorful and had great quality, but the portions were quite small for the price per dish for someone with a huge appetite like me. The Samosa Chaat, Nihari, Biryani and Chicken Tikka were amazing. However, I was a bit disappointed with the Goat Karahi. While the dish was tasty, it didn’t serve complete justice to what a Pakistani Karahi is supposed to be. But when you account for the ambience and fine dining experience, it makes up for the lack of full authenticity in the dish.
Ultimately, this restaurant is a great place to go for special occasions.
And then came the desserts and chai—equally delicious and comforting. The kind that makes you slow down, sit back, and savor the moment with great company.
The servers and staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, attended to, and enjoying every moment. Their hospitality was genuine, attentive, and heartfelt without ever being intrusive.
If you’re anywhere in the Virginia/DC area, this is a place you absolutely must visit. Saahil delivers not just a meal, but an experience you’ll remember long after the night ends.
If you want authentic desi taste with some upscale ambiance I would highly recommend it.
The menu is quite limited, and there is a mandatory 21% service charge, regardless of service quality. While the food tasted good, the portion sizes were very small for the price. The $24 Chicken Karahi was made with what seemed like a single quarter chicken leg. The $8 assorted pakora plate contained only eight pieces, four of which were very small.
Another disappointing experience was with ordering naan. The server initially told us we could order it later, but when we tried to do so, we were informed that the kitchen was already closed. The server neither warned us in advance nor showed any apology or empathy. When we mentioned that we were not given a heads up, the server told us that all restaurants close at 10 snarkily. We also asked for water during the meal, which the server completely forgot.
These service issues made us seriously question the mandatory 21% service charge. Due to the poor service experience, we will not be returning.
Their chai tea, lamb chops ( the best we’ve ever had), goat biryani, eggplant and okra salad were so good. We tried Banarsi pana puri for the first time and it’s amazing! For desert we had the toffee pudding and it capped the lunch to perfection. We will be back soon!!
Our servicer was kind and alert giving all of the guests the attention they needed. My friend and I tried the eggplant and crispy okra chaat which is mouthwatering with meticulously balanced high notes and low notes of flavor. The assorted pakoras is light and flavorful without all the oil. The lahori samosa chaat is also quite tasty with great texture and consistency. The karachi beef nahari is tender, succulent, saucy with a thickness that makes you want to dip your bread straight into the dish! The garlic naan melts in your mouth with all the flavors of fresh garlic and onions! We tried the rang-e-sehar and neemojito mocktails and they hit all the flavors we were looking for! We had a great experience at Saahil and I will definitely be returning soon.
