Very old school cafeteria with a lot of choices for a great price. It was a little confusing to me my first time there but the staff helped me out well enough. Had the liver & onions, potato salad, turnip greens, stewed cabbage and sweet potato pie. Really felt like southern comfort food. Actually I thought the best dish was the cabbage, right texture and so flavorful. Turnip greens were too salty and the sweet potato pie oddly enough too sweet. Liver and onions were exactly what I thought it was going to be. Mr Beasley in the seating area is an amazing individual, he’s so helpful. I can see how this place has been around for so long. Food was not hot and presentation was not as satisfying either. BBQ chicken was OK, not delicious. You can tell the changes from over the years… and it does not compare. I would not be as likely to done again. The dining area looks dreary… felt like I was in a senior facility and not because of its customers. They could stand to liven up the place with fresh paint, pictures and staging/ decor.

I have been a customer since 1970s . Food has changed , not all for the good. Mr. Beasley was excellent in his care of us. Everything changed at checkout. Cashier thanked us for my husband’s service ( so she did see our IDs), but did not apply the senior discount to a $35.78 bill. 10% might not seem like an issue, but to disabled seniors it is. The cashier was not only wrong she was dismissive. Manager ,when I called to ask spoke to me like I was lying. The 10% is just not worth the trip back. SO….We just won’t go back at all . How many deserving people missed that on their bill?

The S&S is a real blast from the past when every city in the South had one or more cafeterias. The place has been kept in excellent condition. The food is good, with some items cooked to order. I suggest going, if only for the nostalgia factor.

What type of Ghetto cooks are working at this cafeteria??? Check your food because it may have been previously eaten off of by the nasty bare handed sous chef fat dude who I watched stick his hand in the pan & break off food & stick it in his mouth as the server is preparing my order. Yuk! I don’t know what goes on there but that doesn’t seem like a place I’d continue to frequent if eating off food in front of customers is how it works over there, then GOOLSBY’S I’ll be back! Probably explains why the crowd has thinned out since GOOLSBY’S has joined the vicinity with good food!

S&S Cafeteria has been one of my favorites for most all of my life I’ve been going to the one in Augusta for many years and used to go to the one in North Augusta SC that closed on a regular basis cuz their food is very kind and cordial nothing bad to say about this wonderful place it’s a gemstone that you almost eat at at because before long you’ll say I’m hungry I want to go to S&S love this place on my favorite places to eat

Take out awful. Girl at register kept me waiting 5 min looking for food signs for board. Then took 15 minutes to get my order. Obviously young kid doesn’t know which food is which. 4 people ahead of me. 15 minutes please. Won’t use it again and won’t recommend it at all. Live 30 minutes away, food hot when g6it home all I can say. People in carry out don’t speak to you at all. Very rude.

The food was great! Service and atmosphere leave much to be desired. Could definitely use an upgrade in management and staff enthusiasm. The line was really long with elderly patrons and the young people making the orders were moving as if they didn’t see the line or didn’t care on the to-go side. The ladies on the other side were very upbeat and friendly. The manager was ringing up orders and was pretty kurt with the Seniors ordering.
