RUVO

  4.5 – 465 reviews   • Italian restaurant

Social Profile:

Ruvo is owned and operated by four brothers of the DeNicola family, who settled on Long Island in 1915. The family has a long tradition in the preparation of fine Italian fare created with the freshest ingredients. Ruvo takes its name from a small hill town in Southern Italy – the ancestral home to part of the DeNicolas’ extended family. On a trip to Italy in 1972 James DeNicola Sr., an artist who worked on Long Island his entire career, was inspired to create a series of woodcut prints of Ruvo. The prints evoke the color, warmth and vitality of their regional inspiration. A reproduction adorns the cover of the dinner menu and the original prints, along with other artwork by James Sr., hang in the restaurants in Port Jefferson and Greenlawn

Local restaurant & bar chain serving a la carte & fixed-price Italian menus in a warm setting.

First time at this restaurant because we heard that Larry and Jen who play music there were quite good. The acoustic Duo were excellent. We would definitely go back to see them. The food was really very good and you got a nice portion size. However, the wait staff, which was by the way extremely friendly, were kind of all over the place. Don’t know if it was an off night but we had to order drinks three times before we actually got them and they did not know if any vegetables or what came with the specials but otherwise a lovely evening. Also just be aware that the noise bounces so you have to really speak up if you’re with a large group.

The lunchtime oven-roasted Turkey BLT sandwich is to die for! Service was also excellent, and fast. I felt in GREAT hands with Tyler G.

Awful-will not come back again. I had tried to look past some inconsistencies in the past, but this last time was the WORST-Service-none- Food-AWFUL- for the kitchen to send an item out of the kitchen that is/was burnt is a disgrace and no excuses should be made-as it was attempted by the Floor Supervisor. You charge a pretty big price for portions that seem to continue to get smaller. I understand cost increases etc. but to make smaller portions, to have to ask for a Server to come serve a table, is not acceptable. I saw some recent reviews that expressed similar feedback. Hopefully something will be done to address it.

Ruvo is a great meeting point for us so my friend and I meet there occasionally. This is the second time I’ve had one of their ciabatta sandwiches and as usual it was burnt tasteless and overdone. The flounder my friend had was very good but the food is just so so for the most part. Will have to find another meeting place sadly. PS our waitress needs to find a new type of occupation as she seems miserable.

So Merry Christmas!! 12/24/2025 Went to pick up catering today that was ordered 3 weeks ago by my wife, Tray of Meatballs and Chicken Fingers. Arrived as per specified time, meatballs were ready but no chicken fingers! When asked what happened I was advised it was missed and when aI asked the lady I was told WELL WE HAVE 700 orders!! I will go back at 1-1:30 and see if they make them.

Not much noise at 5 PM when we sat down, but too much noise when we left after 6. Service followed the same curve.

The food was great. Restaurant week fixed price menu was a good value.

Just had their Cream of Mussel soup from the Greenlawn Ruvo Market. Man that was about the best soup I’ve ever had. I’ve spent a lot of time in New England and have had my fair share of NE Clam Chowder. They know how to do soup up there but Ruvo has them beat by a mile. Bravo, Chef!

Off to Ruvo on St Patrick’s Day for lunch! The interior and exterior have changed and are more modern than before. I was very happy to see all the artwork has been enhanced and moved around in the soft green colored rooms. No Irish music for mood, only contemporary. We began with two delicious bloody Marys, followed by potato leek soup which was delicious. We ordered our Saint Patrick’s Day classic corned beef with small potatoes, cabbage and small carrot. Lunch portion. We had the chocolate mousse cake for dessert. The bill including the tip was $94. Everything was nice, but a little pricey. I could have used another drink after the bill. We will return another time for regular lunch specials.
