New Mexican cuisine – check
Local diner that locals go to – check.
Food was great. My wife had enchiladas w/ papas and I had the chili adovada quesadillas. They were just as good as leftovers! They brought out sopapillas that were warm, light, and fresh.
Service was super helpful and patient. Definitely what we were looking for as out-of-towners wanting to try good, local NM food.

Today (2/20/2026) I called in an order for cheese enchiladas, three tacos and an order of fries at 11:58 am. Was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I showed up within the given time frame. I paid for my order and told it wasn’t ready yet. I was fine with that as I showed up earlier than the given time. The waitress and hostess were both amazing. The males on shift were a different story. There were comments made from the waitress and hostess asking where my order was… to which the one male said something about other orders were made before ours and they needed to get out first. Which I understood. I’ve worked several restaurants as a waitress and I get it. At 30 minutes since the order was placed, you could see the frustration from the waitress with the other staff asking if our to go order was done yet. I also asked the male if my order was ready yet… cause I had to get back to work. Finally my order came out and I returned to work… right across the street from Rutillios. As soon as I got back to work, I opened the bag my food was in. Immediately I saw that the styrofoam container that the enchiladas were in was puffed up… which happens when your food container sits under the heat lap for an extended amount of time (I work a food truck as a part time gig and am well aware of the effect of styrofoam sitting for an extended amount of time under heat), our tacos were cold and the fries were soggy… the enchiladas were not warm all way through. So riddle me this, why if my order “wasn’t ready” why was it in the state it was when I finally received my order. I’ve never ever had a bad experience with Rutillios… and we’ve ordered large amounts of food with them, have I ever had a bad experience until today. The attitude of the male on shift and the quality of the order is enough for me not to ever return. I’ll definitely be rethinking my options next time we order food to go.

Exactly what you’d expect from a small town diner. I had the Navajo tacos without meat to make it vegetarian and it was really dang good. Also, shout out to the Chile cheese fries.

Big fan of the Charlie burger as always and the wife tried their stuffed green chili chicken sopapilla and she gave the two thumbs up. Always great service and best food around.

Very popular restaurant in Belen. My first time here. Excellent breakfast and lunch menu choices. Felt very down home and community oriented. Large portions and yummy sopapillas. Server was friendly. You have to drive a few minutes off the interstate to Main Street, which is very simple. Ample parking.

I absolutely love Rutilios and have to stop here anytime I’m in town for a visit. The bean and cheese stuffed sopapilla smothered in red chili plus chips and salsa – to die for.

The advertised daily specials on my phone. But then when I go in there, the prices are much higher.nAnd they try to blame it on google. They said burritos, fornLike two or three dollars , and then when I went there , it was more like seven fifty , and they wouldn’t budge. They had the same special written on their wall with a higher price.
I drove twenty miles to get there for a friday bean burrito that ended up costing me ten dollars
