I had an amazing experience at Ruth’s Chris Steak House – Downtown Indianapolis for lunch. From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely top-tier. The staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Even during the lunch hour, everything felt relaxed, organized, and well-paced. We never felt rushed — just truly taken care of.
The food was exceptional. Steaks were cooked to perfection, served sizzling hot, and seasoned beautifully. You can truly taste the quality in every bite. The sides were just as impressive — flavorful, fresh, and perfectly portioned. Everything came out timely and exactly as ordered.

Our server Deborah was so very sweet, polite, and professional during our dining experience. We were celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday and we chose Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse for our dinner. Neither of us had ever been to a Ruth’s Chris before and the experience was phenomenal. We will definitely be dining at your location again in the future. Its always a smart thing putting in a reservation at an upscale restaurant like Ruth Chris. I was shown to a table right away. My server, Ryan gave me a menu and answered my questions about size of my steak preferences. I didn’t want a huge porterhouse or 8 oz. Filet mignon, but I settled on 6 oz. Filet mignon and shrimp. He inquired about my drink ordered and I preferred a pomegranate cocktail. He brought warm bread, and butter. He was kind enough to refill my water glass. Another server brought the entree and Ryan told me to be careful, it was a hot plate. I excused myself to the ladies room for a break. I came back and immediately cut into the Filet mignon and was very happy with the cooked beef. I loved the creamy garlic mashed potatoes and took sips of my cocktail. Ryan came back to ask about my dinner. I told him that I was very happy with everything and finished my dinner. Because of Ryan’s kind manner and care, I gave him 18% tip. I want come back to Ruth Chris. My first night was very comfortable and enjoyable.

I had such a wonderful experience at Ruth’s Chris in Indianapolis. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, exactly as it should be. The side dishes were also standout stars—the broccoli au gratin and the whiskey basil mash were absolutely delicious. I also have to give a huge shout-out to Dillon, Nic, and Malik for the superb service—they really made the evening feel special. The whole vibe in there was like a warm family dinner on a Sunday evening. Definitely a spot I’d recommend!

Disappointing Experience at Ruth’s Chris – Far Below Brand Standards
I’m not usually one to leave critical reviews, but my recent visit to this Ruth’s Chris location was so far outside the standard of excellence I’ve experienced at other locations that I feel it’s important to share.
My evening began on a discouraging note. I arrived just four minutes early for my reservation, yet the valet staff insisted I wait outside in the cold because the restaurant wasn’t “open” yet. When my reservation time finally came, they took their time checking their phones before opening the door and greeted me with an unfriendly look.
Once inside, I explained the situation to the host, who simply stared at me with no acknowledgment or apology. She offered coat check to other guests—but curiously not to me—which left me feeling dismissed and frankly unwelcome. As a young professional traveling alone for business, the interaction felt unnecessarily condescending.
My server was kind and genuinely tried his best, but unfortunately had to deliver a series of disappointing updates:
• I ordered a tomahawk steak and requested stuffing, as it was Thanksgiving and part of the holiday meal offering. I was told the kitchen would not provide stuffing, even though I ended up purchasing the full Thanksgiving meal specifically for that purpose.
• I requested a cappuccino and was told the machine was broken, then that it would be fixed, then that it wouldn’t be fixed, then that they couldn’t offer a complimentary coffee—and finally, after several conflicting messages, a cappuccino arrived. The inconsistency made a very simple request far more complicated than it needed to be.
• My soup arrived with poor presentation, clearly rushed and lacking the attention to detail expected from an upscale steakhouse. (Photo included below.)
Finally, when I spoke to a manager to express my concerns, I was met with a dismissive, “Sorry, that’s not normal,” before she walked away. No meaningful conversation, no resolution, and no ownership of the experience.
I have visited multiple Ruth’s Chris locations over the years, and I know the brand is capable of exceptional service. Unfortunately, this visit did not reflect that reputation in any capacity. I left disappointed—especially on a holiday—and with the sense that basic hospitality standards were overlooked from the moment I arrived.
I hope this review helps encourage improvements, because guests deserve the level of warmth, professionalism, and care that Ruth’s Chris is known for.

Came during my stay in Indy last week, it had snowed heavy so it wasn’t packed. Everything was perfect, literally. I got the truffle parmesan crusted steak and added garlic butter, it was fire! 🙂 The service & food 10/10.

From the hostess to the back waiters was amazing!! The atmosphere was inviting and calming. The food was the super star! Literally the best steak I have had in my entire life. The creamiest lobster Mac and cheese! We were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better dinner. The waitress brofuth him a small dessert with a lighted candle. Our server was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and professional—truly elevating the evening. The Food was not terrible. The service was not terrible. But it definitely wasn’t the standard that I am used to from the Ruth’s Chris it was mediocre at best.I know the restaurant had been slammed with guests due to the Big 10 Championship and all the other events going on downtown,but I feel the disservice was due to poor planning or lack of care.
I made my reservation for an annual dinner with friends several weeks ago . A party of 6.We arrived about 15 minutes before our scheduled time so we went to the bar to order drinks while we waited to be seated. The bar was in total disarray.. dirty dishes everywhere , no cleared and cleaned area to really stand . We ignored the chaos and ordered drinks. We only waited about 9 minutes past our reservation time ,however now we were sat in a dark and isolated corner. I did not prefer the seat selection, but again, I did not complain. As we were the only guests in this area we asked 2 different people if we could turn on the TV to enjoy the Big 10 game and we were told “No, it’s only for private events, but that the game was on in the bar.” At this time we were being served our dinner. On a night when we were already told several of your food and drink offerings were not available, this just felt so un-accommodating..very unlike the service we’ve come to enjoy over and over again for many years. We wanted to experience the hype and electricity that the city was giving off that evening..sadly we were denied that opportunity and definitely underwhelmed with our expectations.
