And the food?
Out of this world. The BEST steak I’ve had in my entire life—perfectly cooked, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Ruth’s Chris delivered an unforgettable dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend—especially if you get Johnny as your server!
Our server, Justin, was absolutely incredible. Truly top notch service, he was extremely attentive, detail oriented, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The drink menu being on an iPad was a great touch, especially with photos of the cocktails so you can see the presentation before ordering.
For drinks, I tried the Once Upon a Time in Mexico, a coconut ginger martini, and it was outstanding. The bread deserves a special mention: warm French bread with a perfectly crusty, crunchy exterior and a soft, fluffy inside—it tasted like it had just come out of the oven.
We chose the three-course meal. For the first course, I had the onion soup, which was very good, but my favorite was the lobster bisque, it was incredibly creamy and packed with flavor.
For the main course, we had the filet cooked medium rare, served with shrimp, mashed potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the shrimp were very well seasoned absolutely perfect. The presentation of the dish was beautiful.
For dessert, I tried both the white chocolate bread pudding and the cheesecake. While the cheesecake was good, the bread pudding was outstanding and easily the highlight of the final course.
Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience, and I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.
Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. After finishing the crab cakes, it took a long time for our soup and salad to arrive, and during that stretch no one checked in or acknowledged the delay. When our steaks finally came out, both were cooked rare even though we had ordered medium. Our server caught it quickly and offered to have them cooked a bit more, but the wait was longer than expected, and we wondered if they might come back overdone. My wife’s steak returned cooked properly, but mine was still underdone. It was taken back again and came out quickly, but by then it was closer to medium-well.
For a steakhouse, this was disappointing. Another couple was seated halfway through our meal, and they left right before we did. We weren’t in a rush, but it still took 2 hours and 20 minutes from the time we sat down to when we paid.
There were bright spots in our visit, which makes us think this may have just been an off night. We’d welcome the chance to return and experience the restaurant at its best if management is open to facilitating that.
The waitress was great couldnt have been better we waited 20 or so minutes after our reservation time, which we were also 15 mins early for, the hostess could barely be heard as they called for people’s tables I saw some people almost get skipped. Maybe just a text as well would be good when your table is ready especially since there wasn’t much room to wait it was very crowded.
Our waiter James, was exceptional. He was attentive without being overbearing, he made sure we had everything we needed plus more and he was genuinely personable. He added to the warmth of the evening and helped make the celebration feel special.
The food was incredible as always, perfectly prepared and worth every bite. Overall, it was a beautiful experience, and we’ll definitely be back.
The restaurant was spotless, quiet, and the ambiance was top tier. The porterhouse for two was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor and could have used more salt. The baked potato was great.
Overall the service, drinks, and atmosphere were excellent, even if the food itself was just average.
They were especially amazing with our little one, which made the evening even more special. The food was outstanding- perfectly cooked steaks, delicious sides, and beautifully presented dishes.
We left happy, full, and smiling. Highly recommend this place for any special occasion or simply a great night out in Asheville!
