It was my birthday and I chosen to dine alone. But the wait staff was very humble, nice and cordial to me. The food has always been superb to me. Knowing who the manger on duty this particular was extremely helpful. He has always been courteous, polite and on point when it comes to customer and the restaurant. We had Christmas dinner at **Ruth’s Chris in Durham**, and while the overall environment was comfortable and the staff were warm and welcoming, the food was unfortunately underwhelming.
We ordered three steaks—a ribeye, a filet, and a New York strip—all cooked medium. However, when the dishes arrived, not only was the execution fairly average, but the steak plates themselves looked as if they had been through a battle, with greasy smears and no effort made to clean or present them properly. It was quite shocking and hard to believe this level of presentation came from a restaurant like Ruth’s Chris. Overall, the service and atmosphere were positives, but the food quality and attention to detail did not meet expectations.

Food was amazing, I had the pork chops and hubby had the lamb chops, both flavorful and cooked to perfection. The stuff mushrooms on the other hand were okay, served at a temperature (not warm enough) that may it just blah for me. The staff where friendly and attentive.

Ruth’s Chris has been my favorite restaurant since my first visit a few years ago, and it never disappoints! My daughter and I dined there last Friday after a less-than-great experience elsewhere, knowing we could count on Ruth’s Chris for great food and service.
Although our order was delayed at first, the hostess and manager handled it exceptionally well. The manager personally apologized for the miscommunication, offered us a complimentary appetizer (the stuffed mushrooms—amazing!), and later even took care of half our bill as a gesture of goodwill.
The food was outstanding, the service recovery was impressive, and the overall experience reminded me why Ruth’s Chris remains one of the best dining spots around. Highly recommend!

After going to multiple locations, this was our first experience at the Durham location and we were extremely disappointed in the food. The lobster Mac and cheese had a loose flavorless sauce with cheese that was not melted on top, as well as lobster that wasn’t warmed through. The steaks were not cooked to the correct temperature and the creamed spinach tasted like a microwaved dish. The crème brûlée had a light dusting of sugar that was unevenly burnt instead of an even caramelized layer. Server didn’t check on us much and made us feel like de we were not a priority at all. He seemed annoyed and like he didn’t want to attend to us, so we felt very uncomfortable speaking up. Would absolutely not recommend. Extremely disappointed, especially for a valentines meal.

It pains me to say this but I’ve been to this location and the one in Cary and was sadly disappointed. The food was OK, atmosphere ok and service ok but for the price, it should have been great. I think the Baltimore Harbor location has spoiled us. Food and service is outstanding there and have been may times. Makes you feel like it was worth what you paid for. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to any of the NC local locations.

The location is definitely interesting, lol, but the service was great and the food was lovely as always. I wasn’t a big fan of the au gratin, but the steak more than made up for it.
