Placed an online reservation for 6pm and then called to request 5pm reservation instead of 6pm. They changed the time from 6pm to 5pm. We requested half booth half table with chairs and they have us everything we requested.
My wife had lobster, New York strip and French onion soup. I had blackened salmon. The salad with house dressing and grated black pepper was the best part of the meal for me. The salmon and spinach tasted good but was a bit much for me this time. I had the 4 ounce salmon and I drank plenty of water. Thank you Jack for topping off my water as I do drink plenty of water as I eat my meal.
3 months prior, Our meal, service and attention to detail were truly 5 stars.
Jack provided excellent service, a dining room manager came to our table quite often to make sure we were okay and a nice lady employee stopped by to speak to us because our 1 year son got her attention. She said he was so cute and she told us of her 3 year old child. It was nice talking to her.
Jack had our Caesar salad and the kids chicken split in the kitchen and brought out the Caesar salad in separate bowls for my wife and I and brought out the kids chicken on separate plates for our daughters. Our daughters loved the chicken,n French fries and ketchup and ate it all. The Caesar salad was amazing. Jack asked could he bring out the kids chicken plates early, we said yes, and he brought their plates early as requested.
I had blackened salmon and shrimp, gave the shrimp to my wife and she ate it up. My wife ordered New York strip steak, baked potato, sweet potato casserole and brussel sprouts. She ate what she could and boxed up the remaining so we could take it home and eat later for leftovers. She enjoyed the meal.
Jack had ice cream and chocolate syrup brought out for our daughters. They enjoyed it.
Bathroom was nice as well.
Scheduled reservation via Google and open table. Used an email coupon and Google Pay to pay the bill.
Saturday evening, paid for street parking.
Once seated we had a fantastic server. He was very nice and charming. I felt bad for him because he had to tell all of his tables they were basically out of every steak. Luckily I was planning to get one type of steak they had left. Considering everyone was waiting 45+ minutes they should have definitely let people know before waiting that this was the case. You could tell the waiter was getting heat when he told people. My experience once seated was great – food/service were both amazing.
As someone who works in the restaurant business I fully understand things happen especially on busy nights – however they were not prepared in any way, shape or form. I don’t understand because you knew you would be full for Valentine’s Day. Hopefully this served as wake up call to the owners and managers.
After that, he barely acknowledged my presence and directed all eye contact and replies to my friend instead. His passive-aggressive attitude really took away from an otherwise pleasant start to the meal.
I’m huge into cocktails, and I was intrigued by the drink known as “Prisoner Sour” – which has makers mark 46 topped with a but of wine floating, see picture attached. When I read this, i imagined a whiskey sour woth wine and some high mesh foam like any whiskey sour has, but it has none. And it was a terrible drink. Luckily, they weren’t allowed to pay for it. Normally, I say nothing and drink away, but I couldn’t, and then I just had a regular manhattan that was much better but also nothing special.
To my side dishes, they were good, I ordered some cheesy dish that just tasted like mac n cheese it was ok, and then a baked potatoe that after mulching in all the ingredients it tasted very well.
But to go to a somewhat fancy location, it was far too expensive to have about the potatoes. I think for the price, the food was lacking over all. The drinks were lacking too. However, it was a large selection of wines. This might be the selling point here, I’m not a huge wine person, but I do enjoy it from time to time.
If you’re going here, then I would take the opportunity to indulge in a good wine, I would eat a more fatty steak as those tend to have more flavore than the lean cuts. Cheers
