Ruthie’s is more than a pizza restaurant or bbq restaurant, it’s our home. Eric was playing in a small blues club the night we met. We had a dance, and little over a year later we found ourselves owners of a restaurant. I was from a world of fashion and design, Eric was a professional chef in NY, and although we both loved our work we had a like minded desire to create something of our own, together. We agreed, we wanted simple food done right. Slow smoked BBQ and thin crust pizza with a quality selection of tasty sides was the kind of food that made us happy. Everything would be house-made meeting the strict standards of this CIA chef. And we wanted live music; blues, bluegrass, funk, R&B – the roots music that we love.
Dry rub ribs & other BBQ meet thin-crust pizza at this joint with occasional live blues music.

Reviews
Anyhow the pizzas that we ordered were classic large size pies that I remember from growing up, and not the places trying to trick people into thinking they’re getting a large buy. This is actually one.
And for some reason I felt I could just taste the good ingredients. I also tried the mac and cheese and it was delicious.
I review an awful lot of places, and I’m not too harsh, but I am fair, but they didn’t even need me to think twice as we were happy with our experience thus far, and surely we’ll go back to try other things on the menu.
Recommended . Thumbs up
I got the pulled pork sandwich platter and my friend got the brisket sandwich. The fries were hand cut and very good. The BBQ flavor was great, better than some Food Network spots I’ve been to. I don’t normally like slaw and their red slaw was good. Their pickle was Jewish deli quality. Next time I need to bring more friends so we can split the BBQ pizza.
Their chocolate chip cookies look amazing, I was too full to try one after my meal.
Cashier was very friendly. Someone else was trying to place a catering order while I was eating and someone came out from the back to assist.
Atmosphere was good, quality decor and good music. Next time I plan on sitting outside to see what it’s like (spoiler: it’s beautiful).
I had an issue the last time I ordered take out however. It was 45 minute wait and when I got there to pick up the food I was told at that point that 1 of the things I ordered was out and to choose a different style. So I did that and got the platter but they sent me home with this tiny little cup of pulled brisket, which was barely enough food for half of a person and charged 16.00 or so for the platter. For someone who really doesn’t treat themselves to go out to eat or get take out often this was pretty sad. Beyond this the food? It is stellar. The fried okra and hush puppies are absolutely delicious as well. Definitely go and sit outside to eat if possible so that if there’s any issue with the order they can fix it there on the spot
