This is a perfect place for date night. This restaurant was decorated very nicely with comfortable seating and use dim lighting that offers a romantic setting.

We ordered:

Chicken 65 – good flavor, it had a nice kick to it!

Chili Milli Gobhi – this was delicious, the batter had a great crisp to it but the cauliflower instead wasn’t overcooked or mushy

Goat Biryani – very good, they gave you a decent amount of meat and the rice had great flavor!

Lamb Chops – perfectly cooked with great char on the outside. This came with potatoes and asparagus with a side of sauce that tastes similar to butter chicken.

Overall – all the food was fresh and delicious. I will say that while the food was flavorful, the flavors were not as intense as how other Indian restaurants I’ve had. It’s more “muted”, which is not a bad thing but thought I’d point that out!

I have been to the restaurant two times now and both times it was absolutely phenomenal, especially the palak patta chat, which I literally could not stop thinking about for 3 weeks which is why I went back a second time with my boyfriend.

It’s crispy, savory, tangy, and sweet and scratches all the itches in my brain I didn’t even know I wanted this until I had it.

This time, we also ordered the Rutba kebab sampler- the chicken was very tender and cooked well, but the dish might be a bit on the bland side compared to the other dishes in the restaurant, but is a safe choice for those adverse to stronger flavors. I also ordered the Rechado Prawns, which were a little spicy and very herby, second favorite appetizer so far.

Last time, we also ordered curries, where you can adjust your heat preference. I ordered a grouper curry in American spicy and my boyfriend ordered one in Indian spicy and he was very happy that this is one of the few places that serve to a spice level that can match his tolerance (he loves spicy food). American spicy is probably equivalent to a jalepeno, and Indian spicy is closer to habanero. Both were wonderfully flavorful and we also had flaming naan and paratha as our bread side order. This time, we ordered the house curry with lamb meat with paneer bhatura, and I think the paneer bhatura is my favorite bread type they have.

Overall, a very cozy and clean environment, cute decorations, really good food, great service, and affordable prices. This is going on my top restaurants in Richmond list.

What I love besides the food is that they took an existing Wendy’s and renovated it! The inside is very nice, clean, a lovely atmosphere. Extremely welcoming staff. We had lunch and it was really good. You have the selection of lunch entree, comes with soup or salad, a side of rice, side of chickpeas/potatoes (which was delicious), mango pudding and a lemon pickle (this was very different, it was like preserved lemon peel with a spicy sauce). Prices are good too. I can not wait to go back and try another dish! Pardon the pics, was so excited we started eating and then I realized I needed some photos. Many thanks to our server Aleana (sorry I am sure I have misspelled your name).

Very honest opinion on my Uber eats experience may be not the right dishes to order from here first appetizer chicken 65? Way way too dry Really don’t expect it to be chicken tenders or chicken fingers tossed in masala spice sauce but to be honest that spice masala wasn’t cooked and was raw taste so sorry , next up is the chicken kathi roll has done flavor and surely not with &10 and &11 on ubereats. The basmati rice was good value for money and the side makhani sauce and and the vindaloo sauce with a side of onion chilli pepper salad . But I might be wrong in ordering the stuff on picture was not sure if it was just me or anyone prefer chicken 65 this way??

Absolutely Delicious! Our bartender Zinzi was so kind and polite.

Rutba Indian Kitchen blew me away! The chilli milli gobi was bursting with flavor, the tikka masala was creamy perfection, and the garlic naan was soft with just the right char. Loved the mango lassi the taste was amazingly creamy and oh so refreshing. The fluffy basmati rice was flavorful.
The Mango pudding was smooth and the chunks of fruits that were subtly mixed in took it over the edge. The Tamarind Twist was tangy and tasty.
Warm service, beautiful presentation, and flavors that make you want to come back tomorrow! The food was a symphony of flavors that came together in a perfect matrimony.

My wife and I had a fantastic dinner at Rutba; a standout was the naan which is a lot lighter and softer than your standard naan. Also, when you order “Indian Hot” they don’t hold back, which I really appreciated. Our server was outstanding: friendly and attentive. My only complaint really is that the tables are a bit close together, it sort of felt like I was at my neighbors table and you can’t exactly have a private convo.

We are SO excited to have Rutba Indian Kitchen so close to home! So so so delicious. Everything! Drinks….appetizer…naan…entrees…Everything! We did rate the service 3 stars but the owner was 1000% on top of making sure all guests left happy! We spoke several times just simply because he was checking in. Everything will absolutely fall into place there! Without a doubt our new favorite Indian restaurant!

My wife and I visited Rutba about a month ago and had a great experience. A few weeks later, we were heading back but found it very busy, so we decided to try another Indian restaurant at the Village Shopping Center up the road. Let’s just say that will be our last visit there.

From now on, we’re happy to wait for a table at Rutba. It’s truly an amazing place. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the server was incredibly kind, and the owner took the time to answer all of our questions.

As for the food—this is the best Indian cuisine my wife and I have ever had. The portions were very generous, and the flavors were absolutely outstanding. Very well price as well.

We will definitely be returning many more times.

Thank you for bringing such a wonderful restaurant to Midlothian. We can’t wait for our next visit!

Dont go here until they have their pest problem under control. Place is beautiful on the inside but spotted a roach crawling across the chair and that made me question if there are any in the kitchen. Unfortunate as the place could be nice but I cannot eat at a place that has roaches crawling around.

One of the best Old Fashions I’ve ever had – their signature drink menu is off the chart. Quick seating, excellent service and great tasting food. Rutba is a must visit for connoisseurs of Indian cuisine.
