We both had one of their locally brewed beers. I had a lager and his was an IPA. I really enjoyed mine and he said his was ‘one of the best beers I have ever had’. High praise and I agree with him the beers were fantastic. We both had po boys. His was the shrimp and I had the mixed, shrimp and oysters. Both were well seasoned and very filling. He got a cup of gumbo and it was bursting with seafood. He said it was excellent. I would definitely encourage you to stop in and enjoy a meal if you are traveling through or stopping in Vicksburg.
The food was spectacular! Our server was professional and attentive. The atmosphere was that of a normal Southern restaurant . The dessert was dynamite and I’m not even a pie girl. The main dishes were cooked to perfection and the sides JUST RIGHT-FRESH! Needless to say, I will be back.
Rusty’s is a very good seafood restaurant with great staff and an inviting atmosphere. Parking is easy. The restaurant was very busy but we only had a couple minute wait.
The menu is filled with great items but I opted for the specialty – a blackened grouper fillet with a Creole sauce. Terrific combination. My spouse picked the grilled tuna which was perfectly seasoned and prepared.
You won’t leave here hungry. Side dishes are on the large side. The main dish is too so you may need a takeout container if something hits your fancy – like any of the deserts.
The calamari appetizer was a bit on the well-done side and the individual pieces were rather small and mostly breading so we ate only about a third of what was on the plate. Rusty’s has an upcharge on some of the side items and a 3% credit card charge that went unnoticed until the bill arrived.
All in all, we’ll be back to try some more of the menu and will try to keep the bill under $100.
After a full day of antiquing in Jackson, MS, and the surrounding areas, we stopped for dinner at Rusty’s Riverfront Grill around 6 PM on a Tuesday. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, we were greeted warmly at the door and seated immediately—an impressive start to our experience.
Our waiter took our full order right away, yet our appetizer of fried green tomatoes arrived in a perfect amount of time before our entrees. For dinner, we had the blackened shrimp with a loaded baked potato and grilled asparagus, as well as the blackened redfish with green beans and cheesy grits. The portions were generous, and every bite was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked.
Even though we were full, we couldn’t resist getting Mississippi Mud Brownie to go! The service was prompt, friendly, and made our visit even better.
If you’re in the area, this spot is a must-visit for great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
