Get the heck off the highways with fast food and stop into the Rusty Spur downtown for great meals.
First, or service from Maddie (sp?) was excellent…friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, fast. Couldn’t have enjoyed her more.
Wagyu sausage was very tasty app. Steak was exactly medium rare, tater piping hot, salad bar fresh…and beer cold!
Metro dining experience in Childress’ quaint downtown.
Excellent!

Service so bad I finished my food with out a drink. It’s unfortunate that this is the only steakhouse close by, so it’s as good as it gets.
What’s unbelievable is that its only about 10 tables and 2 waitresses. Too much to handle?
Might look busy, but mainly it’s people just waiting around for their order to be taken or order to get to their table.
The only thing good are the steaks… fries are fresh out of the True Value bag, wings?… you’ll have a better experience getting them from Pilot down the street.
This is my second time coming here because I wanted to give them the benefit of a doubt. The first time it was almost the same experience.
But come experience it for yourself if you like and be disappointed for yourself. Don’t take my word for it.

Horrible service. Waitresses do not greet u, they ignore customers standing waiting to be seated. Not enough seating. Waitresses wearing regular sloppy clothes so u can’t tell if they work there. Only 1 wearing Rusty spur shirt. Never given salad bowl for salad station and no explanation. Baked potato not cooked all the way and steak overcooked. Some folks left after being ignored while they waited up front. Waitresses dropped silverware at two separate tables and never picked them up to avoid someone stepping on them or slipping. Was a Saturday night Jan 3rd and people were frustrated. Staff never smiled. Horrible experience.

I have been through this town many times but since this restaurant is off the main highway I did not know it was there. I decided to look for any where else to eat and found this wonderful gem in the old downtown area. I had the kids ribeye steak with fries and toast. It was seasoned to perfection and cooked perfect. It was wonderful. The fries were real potatoes not frozen and tasted the way fries should taste
My next trip through this Texas town WILL include a trip to the Rusty Spur Steakhouse. The name fools you a little because there was no alcohol.

Service is the worst , they literally ignore you when you try and get their attention. Make sure you have at least 2 hrs from then taking your order to them bringing you your bill.
The only reason they are still in business is because the choices here are slim to none.

Good food. Reasonably priced. Cowboy Salad is worth it.

Walked in on a Saturday night. Seat yourself sign at the door which is fine but there was only dirty tables. After standing inside the door being ignored by the staff we sat at an empty but dirty booth. After 15 min had to wave a waitress down and beg to get the table bussed we finally were seen to. Food was good but service was horrible. Never felt like I was bothering waitstaff at a restaurant before. Won’t be back.

Probably best steak and loaded potato I have had in quite some time. Service couldn’t have been any better! Though we live out of state, we will return and pass the word. God Bless your business and staff
