Social Profile:

Rustika Cafe and Bakery was founded by Francis Reznick in 1994. From the first day, executive Pastry Chef Francis put her vision to work. Today, it’s renowned as one of Houston’s best cafes and bakeries, with Francis’ children (and even her grandkids) lending a hand at the family-owned shop, which now has locations and is shipping nationwide. At Rustika, their vision is simple: create fresh food along with decadent and beautiful desserts while never compromising on flavor or quality ingredients. Serving up favorite Jewish-Mexican fusion dishes like Chilaquiles, Migas, and Matzoh Ball soup along with the traditional Omelettes, Sandwiches, and Salads, which are available all day.

Cozy cafe serving Mexican-European entrees & custom, multi-tiered cakes for every occasion.

My water went out. I still had to shop. The place I planned to go to was closed.
However, I am glad these things led me to try this place. I forgot to get the servers name, but ehe was so friendly and upbeat she put me in a happy mood. The food was absolutly yummy. I will eat imside next time. So cozy.

For $60 I got a huge sandwich that was the size of multiple sandwiches stacked together, 3 empanadas, 2 Espressos with Latte Foam Art, 2 bowls of soup & a bag of meringue. That’s enough food for three meals & everything tasted absolutely delicious. If you can afford the high price for the food (which is absolutely worth it), you can’t pick a better café for lunch or dinner.
(Oh & there’s an exclusive breakfast menu too. I didn’t have breakfast here however so I will update this review when I try that.)

This place offers a lot of options. Everything in the display looked delicious. I stop in for a sweet treat. The coco munchies cookies is must try. Customer service was great, friendly and helpful.

Service was slow. Food was meh. Ordered the breakfast tacos, the strawberries and cream pancakes from the specials menu, and a dish from the specials menu that I don’t recall the name and was not expecting when it arrived at the table. The tacos were okay. The pancakes were very dry and dense and did not come with enough syrup. The egg dish smothered in green sauce was bland and had way too much sauce. All of the dishes were overpriced for the lack of quality. We will not be returning. There are far too many good restaurants in Houston.

First was great and dessert really hit the spot. The coffee was delicious, the turtle coffee and the regular drip coffee. I ordered the chicken fajita bowl and it was awesome. A very generous portion and it tasted like my own mother made it. We also had some cookies and they were great. Had no issues with the service. You place your order up front and they bring you your food.

December 17 2025- we walked in and were greeted with what seemed to be a very forced hello. The employees seemed like they were being held hostage. Me and my wife did not feel welcomed and that was just the start! We ordered our OVERPRICED food and before i even paid (card tap) the cashier was gone. So we paid and went to take a seat. They brought us our food shortly after, what we didn’t know is that you have to grab everything yourself (silverware, condiments, napkins) Even the drinks are self serve. my wife asked for water but no one told us we had to go almost behind the counter ourselves to grab a cup and get it ourselves. It almost felt like i was an employee here. as for the food they charge too much for the small portions they give. 15$ for 2 eggs 2 pieces of burnt bacon and a small sauce container of beans. If i knew thats what i was getting i would have counter offered to pay 8$ no more not worth it. As for the eggs you can taste the previous food cooked on whatever pan they used. I could taste the previous 5 meals cooked on there. And if that wasn’t enough of a health code violation they have all their pastries sitting right in front of the restroom. its a very narrow hallway i’m sure people have bumped into them after using the restroom. There was even flies on some. This place needs to shape up or shutdown. Will be calling health inspectors. Wish i could get my tip back but thats what i get for tipping before eating.

My family used to order all our cakes from here, but stopped due to issues with their service. Years later, I decided to give them another shot: Placed an order for a simple birthday cake to be delivered and was quoted $25 for the delivery charge, despite being well within the 10mi radius (which had a lower charge). When I brought that up, the employee gave me this HUGE exasperated sigh and said they were having issues with their delivery person, so that’s why they were charging more. Okkk, not my problem, but whatever — we settled on using Uber, which she estimated would be around $15-$20. I paid upfront for the cake, and was told *they* would summon the Uber and call me to reimburse them for it the day of. Fast forward 2 weeks and it’s 30mins past my delivery time — no calls, no updates, no “it’s on the way!” When I finally called (understandably upset), they tell me that *I* was supposed to call the Uber to pick up the cake from them; they sounded annoyed and dismissive and didn’t offer any apologies. Because I wasn’t able to pick up the cake myself at that point, I had no choice but to settle on them calling an Uber right then and there and paying them $25 anyway. It’s a shame because their cakes are actually very good, but their service was and continues to be the absolute worst. Will not be going back.

My daughter and I traveled far to pick up our lunch on SW Freeway. We noticed this bakery and stopped in to buy something sweet. We stepped in and wasn’t greeted—no big deal so we were looking at the offerings. However, when the customer left, we still weren’t acknowledged and the staff left from our sight by the cash register. After standing for a few more moments, we decided not to spend ‘our’ money as the vibe got weird! First impressions ruined it! I won’t try or recommend them to any family or friends.
