The Rustic Inn was built in the mid -1920s by as part of one of the first cabin resorts on Lake Superior. With its hand milled, self supporting, cedar walls & birch floor, it is just as warm and welcoming now as it was 100 years ago.
Over the years it has been a favorite gathering place for family & friends both old and new. If only the walls could talk.
Serving Skillets and Omlette’s for Breakfast, Fresh Lake Superior Fish, Tender Roast Beef with Homemade Mashed Potatoes & Gravy for Lunch; as well as Burgers and of course Pies the business grew rapidly. A Gift Shop was then added by acquiring the Naturalists home From Gooseberry Falls State Park. We are truly grateful and thankful for each and every one of our customers!

Great breakfast stop for a road trip up north.
The restaurant has a very cute rural atmosphere with a cute shop. Their breakfast is awesome. Highly recommend the Benedict! Their omelettes and hash dishes were also a hit.
Perfect stop for a classic breakfast on your next trip up north.

A must stop restaurant on a drive up along the North Shore! Great home cooked food served with a smile. Atmosphere is up north/woodsy and the cuisine is cafe style comfort food. The housemade potato chips are delicious. I highly recommend the pork tenderloin sandwich!! Burgers are good too. Note: service charge is applied when using a credit card. Plenty of parking and direct access off hwy 61.

During our trip to the North Shore, we had the chance to try this restaurant for lunch. It’s truly an incredible place located conveniently by the highway at Two Harbours. The staff are warm and welcoming, offering a wide variety of delicious options, and creating a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. We especially appreciated their beautiful outdoor seating, which allowed us to enjoy the surrounding views while we ate. Inside the restaurant, there’s also a charming pie shop—both indoors and outdoors—that offers some of the best pies we’ve ever tasted. We really recommend giving it a try; it’s a place that makes you feel cared for and at home.

I was really looking forward to coming here after reading all the rave reviews about their food—especially the pie. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. We arrived at 10:35 AM, only to find that many of the pies were already sold out.
We had planned on breakfast, but the hostess told us it would be a 35-minute wait, which meant breakfast would be over by the time we were seated. There was no mention of breakfast hours on their website or menu, so I assumed it was served until at least noon—or maybe all day.
The lunch menu didn’t sound nearly as appealing, but we decided to stay. We ordered the roast beef with mashed potatoes and the BBQ bacon cheeseburger with tater tots. The roast beef was tender but completely lacking in flavor, and the mashed potatoes were the same—just bland. Even the bread was plain. The burger was pretty good, but again, the tots had no seasoning.
We skipped dessert since the pies we wanted were already gone. I had planned to try something new, but we ended up heading to “the other” pie place later—at least they had our favorites available.

Everything here is delicious, best pie I’ve ever had in my life. Recently drove back here (I love 6 hours away) just for the pie. It normally has an hour wait time and you have to be in person to get put on the list, but to us very very worth it. Would recommend bringing something to do while waiting, there’s seating outside and they’ll come outside to get you when your table is ready. Staff are always extremely friendly. My husband and I love this place. The cherry peach crumble and the Caramel Apple pecan crumble are my favorite pies, while my husband’s favorite isn’t pie but their deliciously moist carrot cake.

Worth the wait! The food is delicious, the staff were friendly and the pie was the best I’ve had! Love that you can get pie or shop while you wait for your table. I was in such a food coma that I forgot my card, so we picked it up the next day, and enjoyed more pie!

The food was really good, but the restaurant itself is pretty small. The service was a bit slow but the waitress was super kind. There was a little bit of a wait to get a seat but overall it was a great place to have a chill meal

Service was quick and very nice. French fries were good and I typically don’t eat fries. Walleye taco left a bit to be desired. Not much walleye or flavor. Skimpy on portion, I feel they could have put more flavor into it . And unfortunately looking out the window scenery all I could see was a bush and a possible air conditioner? Fun to look in gift shop while waiting to be seated. I would try again, just not tacos.

Warm, welcoming vibe and incredibly friendly staff. We stopped in for pie and learned it’s takeout-only from their food truck in the parking lot. A slice was $7, good, though not particularly memorable for the price. Still, it’s a nice stop along the North Shore with plenty of regular food options that make it worth a visit.

Better than Betty’s!
The strawberry rhubarb pie was absolutely delicious! The peanut butter pie with Oreo crust took two people to finish the slice and the lemon angel pie was light and fluffy, good flavor and crust. I 100% recommend making a stop here for pie and food.
