Amazing food, old school dinner vibes, service like you are a human being. After years of overseas service coming back to this made it even better. God bless this restaurant and its people! Had the catfish and fell in love.

The environment here is very comfortable, and the service is warm and attentive. I really enjoyed this place. I was a truck driver passing through and stopped by the front desk to inquire about overnight parking. The answer was: free parking! Although I didn’t buy anything, they didn’t mind if I borrowed their microwave to heat up some food, as my truck’s transformer had tripped and the microwave wasn’t working. I found everyone to be incredibly friendly and welcoming; they weren’t impatient at all, even though I didn’t buy anything. I highly recommend all truck drivers to experience their convenient service. Thank you!

Our group of 12 was traveling through and looking for somewhere for a good lunch with several options. We posed the idea to the group with the caveat that it’s inside a gas station… but we all agreed to take the plunge, and we’re so glad we did! We met Cara (who *happens* to be from where we’re from) and had a wonderful lunch! If you’re looking for fine dining, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for down home cooking with plenty of options, give it a try! The food was hot, correct, fast, and enjoyable! We were in and out in a little over an hour at 12:30 on a Saturday!

Good food, slow service. They do serve breakfast all day – which was our only requirement.

It’s in a gas station, but you’d hardly know it from the inside. It’s a pretty nice space with a modest amount of seating.

The food was all fresh and tasty. No complaints there.

We were kind of in a hurry to get back to El Paso and the slow service had us worried about timing – but we made it.

I’m not sure how rustic I think the place was, being in the truck stop and all.
They serve breakfast all day.
We were there during slow hours, I could hear the cook dicing our veggies.
The Denver omelet was nicely filled with red, green peppers, onions, ham and cheese. Hash browns could have been a little browner, sausage gravy was country gravy with diced sausage layed on top. The biscuit was fried which is uncommon but really tasty.
My milk came out cold and with the food, just as ordered.
If we’re back in the area we’ll visit again.

We live close to Rustic Cafe, and have eaten here often. The food is good, but the menu has been drastically downsized, and they did away with their South-of-the-Border menu. The service isn’t what it used to be. Me and my his went last night, and three people were standing behind the counter talking, completely ignoring us. Finally, one girl reluctantly came to take our order, and it was obvious she didn’t want to be there. It took forever to get water, and when our food was ready, another server brought it to us, saying our server who took our order was busy. She wasn’t busy at all, except for sitting on her butt behind the counter. We even noticed several tables that haven’t been bused or cleaned. The restaurant wasn’t busy either. One older couple came in, and ended up leaving, because nobody came over to offer them a menu or anything to drink. Our server never came over once to check and see how we were doing. She took our order, that was it.
As far as the food, although with a limited menu, it is good, but the service could use some vast improvement.

Burger and fries were really good though they did forget the onions on the burger. The only real issue is the $10 for the fried pickles which was only a tiny serving, that was unacceptable.

The food was so so. Definitely fresh, brought hot to the table. I was traveling through Alamagordo on my way home to Oklahoma. The server said to have a seat anywhere. She brought me a menu & asked my drink order & promptly forgot about me. A group of 2 men & 2 young boys come in & sit down, they are immediately served, they get their drinks & their order is taken, before she realizes she forgot me, even though I was sitting feet away from this group of guys. I was 5 seconds from walking out the door. Finally, I received my tea & my order was taken after the group received their food. This is not a very large space, and seriously, there is no excuse for it

I wanted to like the food, I really did. Maybe I chose poorly.

The Cafe was clean, waitress was super friendly and good. I ordered the Rustic Skillet. My expectation was not my reality. I did not expect the entire plate of food to be piled on top of itself. Not appealing looking at all. Biscuit, hash browns, bell pepper, onion, cheese, sausage patty, eggs, and sausage gravy. Well… biscuit was ok. Very few pieces of bell pepper, I neither tasted nor saw onion or cheese. Hash browns were very crispy, which I appreciate. But cooked in old oil, which I don’t. Sausage patty tasted odd. I ordered my 2 eggs over easy. Definitely overcooked. Gravy was bland but ok. Shreds of meat – sausage? were simply scattered on top.

The stomach ache for the following 4 hours was not worth the quarter of this mess I ate.
