Did a late dinner there and tried the grilled meatloaf. Highly recommend it. Was like home cooked! Also tried an apple dumpling for dessert. Other than it came out piping hot and i had to wait to eat it…. lol. it was fantastic! Could have reordered that entire meal again. Friendly and attentive staff as well. Will be back for sure.

Consistently a positive experience at this restaurant. On my last visit, I ordered the grilled meatloaf dinner with coleslaw, scalloped potatoes, and butternut squash – everything was delicious and well-prepared. The ice cream sundaes are great too! Highly recommend.

This is probably my favorite restaurant. This is also one of the last great family-friendly restaurants out there. The staff is very friendly, and the food is great. My favorite entree is the classic chicken dinner. The best sandwich: the Reuben. Russ’ thousand island is the best version of the dressing you’ll ever find. Fried mushrooms are the best appetizer, and the apple sauce is legendary. However, the best part about this place is the desserts. There is no other restaurant that I know of that has a selection of desserts this large, and they’re all top-notch quality. Best desserts: hot fudge cake, snowcap pie, and peanut butter pie. Actually all of the pies. Every one of them.

We had a very enjoyable breakfast at Russ’s restaurant on Alpine today, nice size servings, and very reasonably priced. Service was exceptionally good , waitress checked in on us several times. There were lots of additional food items that could be purchased, we didn’t purchase anything because we were out shopping, but the next time in I’m going to try the cinnamon rolls as they looked very tasty.

Russ’ was good. I felt well-priced, especially the entrees. Food tasted good too. Not the kind of manufactured taste you get from some of the other joints around Alpine. I got the Big Dutchman Supreme, and my girlfriend had the Tilapia. I think I want to try the Perch next time.

Following a very unsatisfactory first visit to this establishment I had a very pleasant conversation with the General Manager. He was most apologetic about the experience I had. He even extended a personal invitation to me to visit again. He extended himself further still by offering to compensate me for my last visit. I had my doubts and my hesitations. However, I chose to give him and the restaurant the benefit of those doubts.
I’m so glad that I did!!! My experience last night far surpassed my first visit in every possible way. The entire staff was very courteous and friendly towards me. The food that was so skillfully prepared was offered to me very quickly too. It’s actually been quite some time since I had a meal that felt home cooked. I can now say with confidence I will be back to this location.

I been going to school in the area and this whole week I been sliding through here for lunch — and baby, when I tell you they never miss! The food always fresh, seasoned right, and come out quick even when they busy. I done tried a few different things off the menu and everything hittin’. You can tell they put love in it.
