Social Profile:

Runza Restaurants Serving real food requires a real commitment. It all begins bright and early each morning. Instead of serving breakfast, we’re making homemade bread dough from scratch. We’re hand-slicing onions. We’re shredding lettuce for our salads. We’re stirring up homemade chili and fresh ground beef filling for Runza® Sandwiches. It’s a labor-intensive process that doesn’t let up until long after closing time. We know there are easier ways to do all this, but our commitment to doing things the right way is as real as our food, and that’s not something we’re going to change.

Fast-food chain known for namesake German sandwiches, plus burgers, onion rings & crinkle-cut fries.

The chef and staff were super friendly!! I had never been to a Runza restaurant, my girlfriend & i were torn between a burger or a sandwich. They were nice enough to let us try a little sample bite and it was soo good! The friendliest fast food joint ive ever been to! Definitely recommend!

First time here. Was recommended and what a good choice. Fresh made patty’s. Ordered the double and was impressed how good it was. Glad I stopped. Next time a single. Got a little stuffed with 2 patties. Burger was hot and tasty. Service was fast and the younger guy that took the order was friendly and helpful. Will be stopping again. Nice to have fresh beef right off the grill.

Food quality isn’t what it used to be. Onion rings are sub-par. Very blah!! Burgers are usually a greasy mess. Salads are usually good but PRICEY!! Overall very expensive!

Those who work a drive thru-it is hard enough to understand you under normal circumstances. Adding the mask makes it even more difficult. Toss in your rush to get through our order, no wonder you got it wrong. Then when we tried to correct it at the window, the lady got rude, and what we got was 2 cold runzas. How can I prove they were cold? Look at the picture. Terrible food and terrible service. We could hear laughing and talking in the background and the lady at the window acted like we were interrupting her social hour.

I should have tried the burger, as that looked good. The mushroom runza was ok. Not that flavorful, and the bread was uninteresting. We shared the onion rings, and everyone commented how little flavor there was. The rings had a nice amount of firm onion, not overcooked. I really enjoyed the soft-serve swirl. The prices are very reasonable.

Runza Restaurant at 319 Nobes St, Holdrege, NE, is a hidden gem that perfectly combines friendly service, a welcoming atmosphere, and some of the most satisfying comfort food you’ll ever find. Whether you’re a local or just passing through this charming town, Runza is a must-visit for anyone craving a meal that feels homemade but with a unique twist.

Ambiance and Atmosphere

The moment you step into this Runza location, you’re greeted by a warm, casual atmosphere. The restaurant is clean, well-maintained, and has a cozy, small-town vibe that makes you feel right at home. The layout is perfect for families, travelers, or solo diners, with plenty of seating options and a comfortable dining space. It’s a relaxed spot where you can enjoy your meal without feeling rushed.

The Food

Runza is famous for its signature dish, the Runza sandwich, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. These stuffed sandwiches are like nothing else, with a soft, fresh-baked bread exterior and a savory filling of seasoned ground beef, cabbage, and onions. It’s hearty, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying. I tried the original Runza and paired it with their golden crinkle-cut fries, which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—a perfect accompaniment.

For those looking for something different, the menu also offers burgers, chicken sandwiches, wraps, and fresh salads. I decided to try the Swiss Mushroom Runza on a second visit, and the blend of melted cheese and sautéed mushrooms was fantastic. They also have seasonal menu items, so there’s always something new to try.

And don’t skip dessert! Their ice cream and shakes are rich, creamy, and an excellent way to finish your meal.

Service

The service at this Runza location is outstanding. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to help. They take the time to make sure your order is correct and are quick to recommend menu favorites if you’re a first-time visitor. Despite being busy during peak hours, they handle everything with a smile and efficiency.

Value

One of the standout aspects of Runza is the value for your money. The portions are generous, the food is consistently fresh and high-quality, and the prices are reasonable. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or a hearty dinner, you’ll leave full and satisfied without breaking the bank.

Drive-Thru and Convenience

For those on the go, the drive-thru at this location is quick and efficient. It’s a great option if you’re traveling through Holdrege and need a delicious meal without a long wait. The food arrives hot and fresh, making it perfect for a road trip or picnic.

Conclusion

Don’t ever stop here at 3:30 in the afternoon and expect fresh food! Chicken strips were tough and barely warm – appear to have been reheated or sitting under a lamp for a long time. French fries were the same, barely warm and over-cooked. We have stopped here many other times and had good experience, but not this time.

Hadn’t had a Runza in nearly 40 years. Was traveling though Nebraska, saw a Runza sign and just HAD to stop in. To be honest, it didn’t seem as good as when I was a kid, but I don’t think anything is. Everything is made cheap and quickly these days. But anyway, the fries were great, the salad was phenomenal, and the Runza was hot and fresh.

This upscale fast food restaurant was much appreciated. We are from WI and so enjoyed your Runza’s sandwich, homemade onion rings and the delicious shakes-mint and chocolate! Great to have a sandwich authentic to the area!!!
