Stumbled into something special this weekend!
We took the ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, which dropped us off right in McCaysville GA / Copperhill TN. We were on the hunt for some good food and ended up finding a real gem at Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe.

The first thing that hit us walking in was the smell — absolutely incredible. Then Elizabeth greeted us with a big smile and made us feel welcome right away. You can tell this place has heart.

The food was amazing. The Cuban nachos were recommended to us and they absolutely hit every mark. Do yourself a favor and get the green sauce — that garlic cilantro chimichurri was fantastic. The Cubans were also outstanding, packed with flavor and done right.

The whole place has a great vibe too — coffee, decor, cigars, and a laid-back atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. There’s interior seating as well as outdoor seating, plenty of great fried food options, coffee, and more.

What really stood out though was the family story behind the restaurant. It’s uplifting and full of pride in their culture. You can feel the positive energy and happiness they’ve poured into this place, and it makes the experience even better.

We had a blast and will definitely be back. If you’re in the area, stop in and give this place a try — you will not be disappointed

They treat you like family. She is a very beautiful Rum Cake lady in person. We met her hermana (sister) who helps in the kitchen. A REAL family restaurant l. The menu has so many options, it was hard to decide but I had the ropia vieja what is shredded beef in a tomato sauce kind of like brisket!!! Half of our party were vegetarians and they enjoyed everything. The desserts are crazy…we had to get dessert while we were there and desserts to go because there were just too many wonderful choices. I had flan there and took home February special, red velvet rum cake!! Andrea was a wonderful server.

We love this spot. We come here when ever we have a craving for an authentic Cuban sandwich. I recommend the midnight sandwich. The sweet plantains are absolutely delicious. Of course the rum cake is amazing but they have so many other desserts as well. This time we had the dulce de Leche cheesecake. Can’t forget to mention the black beans and rice. Run dont walk to rum cake lady!

Nice little spot in a little no where town. Wife and I got the nachos, Cuban sandwich, and tamale.

Food: Cuban was great. Didn’t care too much for the nachos, maybe because the wife didn’t get enough salsa, the chips are made from plantains I believe. Tamale was great as well. Father in law got a chicken bowl, he was raving about it.

Service: Great

Atmosphere: Colorful, vibrant.

Price: Decent

20/10 on everything here! I was just taking a little day trip on the train and got to stop for lunch. After shopping around a bit I noticed this place was pretty busy so I figured it must be good! I was not mistaken, or disappointed!! This was fast friendly walk up service and the menu was simple enough to decide quickly. I did not want to get a big lunch since I had limited time so I went with chicken soup and a Cuban pork tamale with some green sauce and of course a rum cake to take home. THIS TAMALE WAS LIKE NO OTHER IVE EVER HAD! The flavor of the pork, and tamale was moist and just delicious I had to tell her I never had such a good tamale and I can’t wait to make another special trip to visit again!! Also a side note they have gluten free rum cakes and tamales are gluten free as well as a few other options.

I LOVE this place! The Cuban sandwich was delicious and so were the yuca fries, tostones and rum cake! My friend was even able to get a Cuban sandwich with gluten free bread and a gluten free rum cake. Will definitely be going back any time I’m in the area.

Authentic Cuban and Excellent! We are fans of Cuban food and were delighted to find this gem in Copper Hill TN / McCaysville GA. I had Ropa Vieja Beef with black beans and rice with flan for dessert. My wife got chicken empanadas, papa rellena and ham croquetas. My dad had a turkey Cubano sandwich. All were excellent quality and authentic Cuban.

I tried the beef empanada and limoncello rum cake. The rum cake is EXTREMELY moist and perfect to share. The beef empanada was a yummy snack. If you come here for lunch I would get more than a single empanada! If you’re wanting to hop from place to place to snack, this place is perfect 🙂

Cool chill vibes.

Just drove an hour one way in the snow to have a Tampa Cuban. I’ve tried both locations, and both are great. Just had the Cuban coffee for the first time. It is strong and somehow smooth. Plantains are awesome! If you want a great sandwich with flawless service, check them out.
