Reviews
The food is authentic and tastes like I am eating in China. My favorite dishes are Toothpick Lamb and Water-billed Beef in Hot Chili Oil. The Sichuan Duck glazed with brown sugar sauce and Shrimp in Garlic Sauce are my daughter’s favorite. I highly recommend this restaurant whom would enjoy the real Chinese food.
Service and atmosphere are both great, and parking isn’t too bad.
Highly recommend for vegetarians too, since their vegetable and tofu dishes are amazing!
The food is good and their were many Chinese and other asian people frequenting the establishment. So we knew where to go to for quality Sichuan cuisine.
The problem I and the other members of my dinning party experienced was the open disdained the restaurant’s staff expressed towards us. Our party of three was approprietly groomed and dressed, polite, and respectful to the other patrons and the staff… in short well behaved.
Our party was all caucasian. Every other table was asian, or asian majority clientel. We were seated and given menus and then totally ignored for 30 minutes. No inquiries if we wanted hot tea, water or any other beverages. No wait-staff ever came to take our meal order.
We attempted to get the staff’s attention by waving, but were ignored. Finally, one of our party got up and directly contacted a member of the wait-staff to come and take our order. That person then directed the youngest and clearly most junior staff member to come and take our order. She did so with with obvious reluctance and open disdainfulness and rudeness.
Sadly, given the circumstances I listed above I can only conclude that we were being discriminated against because we were caucasian… white persons who were not wanted in this asian cuisine and themed eating establishment.
Why?
Apparently due to racism.
Other reasons for the disdain may exisit, and I would be pleased to learn what they might be.
With that said, I CAN NOT at this time recommend
Ruiji Sichuan Cuisie restaurant to anyone; furthermore, I suggest to any one seeking an enjoyable Chinese meal that they look for other friendlier options.
By the time our order arrived at the table an entire hour had passed.
No inquiry as to the quality of our food or other needs for our meal were made. It was a dinning service failure.
The free-range chicken and yam soup was incredibly fresh and flavorful — light yet deeply nourishing. The douban fish was tender and delicate, perfectly infused with rich, savory bean paste without overpowering the natural taste of the fish.
Every dish captured the authentic essence of Sichuan cuisine. Bold, balanced, and beautifully prepared. I would come back in a heartbeat!
Items are served family style.
I love spicy food, the spice level of the dishes are perfect! I feel my sinuses clearing after a good meal here.
The numbing spice level is great too.
I always order the toothpick lamb when I come here. No bad dishes yet.
The cold spicy chicken is very good. The sauce is slightly sweet and salty, and it’s got quite a kick for spiciness. The chicken is not tender but also not dry. It’s got. Firmness to it. It’s very good for its price of $11.
The toothpick lamb kind of has a bold, bitter flavor to it that I’m not quite used to. The pieces of lamb are crispy, but it’s kind of more cooked than I expected, as it’s slightly dry inside instead of juicy. I like the little toothpicks in the pieces. The portion is very large to share. I’m interested in trying the cumin lamb next time.
