Popped in for a salted carmel latte and hot chocolate paired with breakfast kolaches and a cheesecake truffle. The drinks were served at the perfect temperature. The breakfast treat had just the right amount of filling to dough ratio. Delicious, inside and out! The truffle was sweet, the perfect bite!

Great place for coffee and muffins! Montgomery City doesn’t have a ton of options so the bar doesn’t have to be very high, but these folks serve everyone as if it were the Lord Himself stopping in for coffee! Love it.

Just enjoyed the most amazing liquid version of a Cinnamon Roll. Wasn’t sure what to get on our first visit to Rugged Root, the Cinnamon Roll Latte was recommended. It was delicious, not too sweet, just a wonderful flavor. The peanut butter chocolate candy was better than anything store bought. We will definitely return. Next time with friends. Great experience, nice to be greeted with great customer service too!

This candy and coffee shop is run by a local family. The candy is made by the owner and I heard that she will be switching out the candy throughout the year. I had the peanut butter cups on opening day and they are mouth watering (even better than a Reese’s cup in my opinion). Today I got six truffles (bought by the ounce) strawberry cheesecake, cookies and cream, and mint. Let me just say I ate half of them before I could take a picture. The coffee is made with love and care. Overall it is a great place and you should stop by if you have a chance .
They did get color cups as well as sleek black ones. Once you buy a cup the first coffee is free, and when you bring the cup back clean (emphasis on clean) you get your coffee a dollar off your refill. They are really nice tumblers even without the dollar off perk.

when I went in, I wasn’t expecting the tables to be so cute. Also, I had low expectations, but the food was actually so delicious and the coffee was really well made. I got the sugar-free white mocha and the avocado toast. It was a 10 out of 10.

An excellent diversion from the grind on I70! Good coffee and a very fresh muffin. I was travelling westbound and saw the billboard just before the exit. 2nd street is hwy 161 and it goes right back to I70 giving you a taste of Montgomery City… Very nice people!
