Can’t say enough about our experience here.

The vibe in this space is wonderful. It was extremely easy to settle in, get comfortable, and enjoy ourselves.

The staff was friendly and welcoming from the second they open the doors for us. Our servers knew the menu backwards and forwards and had helpful suggestions as far as beverage pairings, and answered our questions about each menu item in detail.

The food itself is amazing. Everything on the menu is considered, intentional, and seasonal.

We enjoyed everything but a big plus to the Pommes Paillasson, Venison Striploin, Wild Boar Country Pâté, and the Wild Striped Bass.

Highly recommend this place. I will be a repeat visitor for sure.

This restaurant was small but really cute — a nice surprise during our night in Jacksonville. We decided to try the tasting menu with wine pairings, and the first few courses were excellent — great textures, beautiful presentation, and unique flavors that kept us excited for what was next. However, the last two dishes fell a bit flat, and the dessert was so tart we couldn’t finish it. That’s what knocked off a star for me. Overall, though, I’d definitely come back and recommend giving this place a try — even if you skip the tasting menu.

“Rue” means “street” in French, and this is one you’ll want to travel again and again – because the destination is pure culinary delight.

Rue Saint Marc is, without question, one of Jacksonville’s best restaurants. It’s a gastronomic feat for Chef Scott Alters, who puts every ounce of his heart and soul on the plate as he guides you through a magnificent journey for the eyes, olfactory, and tastebuds – the kind you’ll talk about for years to come.

Rue is warm, inviting, and unassuming. The staff is friendly and passionate, bringing an unequivocal breadth of knowledge to the food and wine that will make your head spin. The bar is well-stocked, but I would recommend one of their many speciality cocktails (they have an impressive menu). I had a spicy margarita to kick things off, and it did not disappoint.

We were lucky enough to be celebrating a friend’s birthday, so we opted for the divinely celebrated five-course tasting with a wine pairing. It was beyond words, and my toes have yet to uncurl. The fried potato smothered in caviar was sublime, the foie gras succulent, and the two-part entree feature the flakiest fish and most tender veal I’ve ever tasted.

Chef Scott also whipped up a lobster pasta that was heavenly, featuring cold-water shellfish that’s flown in fresh and prepared by pouring hot water over the crustaceans. The result is tender, perfectly balanced meat that melts in your mouth.

Dessert was otherworldly, with a twist on some standards. They have some great options if you decide to order off the menu, but if it’s a special occasion – and you’re feeling adventurous – go for this amazing five-course dining experience. You can thank me later.

Don’t miss this treasure in Jax. You will “rue” the day you did.

Hands down the best restaurant in Jacksonville and the closest thing we have to Michelin-star dining. The cuisine is absolutely impeccable – every dish showcases exceptional technique and creativity. The menu is dynamic and constantly evolving, offering fresh surprises with each visit while maintaining consistently outstanding quality.

The kitchen operates at a level that rivals top restaurants in major culinary cities. Service is professional and knowledgeable. This is destination dining that puts Jacksonville on the culinary map.

If you’re looking for an exceptional fine dining experience in Northeast Florida, Rue Saint Marc is simply unmatched. Highly recommended for special occasions or anyone who appreciates truly outstanding cuisine.

Sept 2025: The peanut crusted grouper in a curry sauce was delicious. Some of the outer sides of the grouper were overdone and a bit chewy, but for the most part, it was cooked well.
The Bibb salad comes with ham, but since I don’t eat ham, they were able to remove it and replace it with a few mushrooms. I should’ve looked at the description so I can tell you what cheese was on there, but it was definitely in the blue cheese family. A very potent, soft cheese. I loved it.

The chef provided a complimentary fried rice cube with salmon roe on top. This didn’t have a ton of flavor to it, so it’s not something I’d order (it is an option on the menu).

One thing I didn’t love about the set up is the menu. They leave it upside down, as though it’s a placemat, with your napkin and utensils over it. I grabbed the napkin and utensils off the top, in front of my waitress. She walked away. I sat there for several minutes just looking at my phone because I had no idea the placemat was actually the menu if I flipped it over. I waved over the waitress after a bit and she said she thought I was going to get around to looking at the menu. I wish she would’ve said something when I first sat down or maybe they don’t make the menu look like a placemat in the future?

We received a Rue gift card for the tasting experience with wine pairing. Made an easy reservation vis website and Open Table, went on a week night and parking was easily available, The experience is not inexpensive but was exceptional in every aspect. Our server was friendly, attentive, professional , and knowledgeable. Each course was a reasonable portion with the right wine in the right amount to accompany. plates and glasses were whisked away unobtrusively and each dish was succinctly explained in provenance and style. I’ve had a lot of meals that weren’t worth the price or didn’t live up to the billing, but this was worth the price and I will recommend over and over again. we will go back

Wow! Rue Saint Marc is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown San Marco. From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. We chose to celebrate Valentine’s weekend here, and we couldn’t have made a better choice.

The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive—making us feel like VIPs throughout our meal. The passion the team shares for their craft truly shines through in every detail, from the beautifully curated decor to the meticulously prepared dishes.

Now, let’s talk about the food! Each course of the five-course Valentine’s menu was a masterpiece, but the appetizer stole the show. The fresh crab, paired with luxurious Russian Coldwater caviar, was a heavenly combination that melted in our mouths. It was evident that the chef pours heart and soul into every bite, creating an experience that is nothing short of extraordinary.

Even the water was elevated, treated with UV light purification—this attention to detail is what sets Rue Saint Marc apart.

Overall, the vibe of the restaurant is eclectic yet modern, making it a perfect backdrop for a special occasion. We left feeling like we had experienced something truly magical, and we can’t wait to return! Jacksonville is incredibly lucky to have a dining destination like Rue Saint Marc. Highly recommend!

Unparalleled experience. We chose the tasting menu without wine pairings, with a “surprise us!” attitude, (because we aren’t choosy) and were blown away to enjoy every single bite of every single course. I know it doesn’t sound realistic that each preparation was perfect, but it’s true. Special hat tips to the shrimp with artichoke heart purée (OMG!), and the hake with pistachio, spring peas, and romanesco cauliflower. Cocktails were also sinfully tasty. Service was flawless, with servers who worked well as a presentation team. ALL the accolades to the chefs and servers who were in top form last night!
